My deepest condolences to you. Kensi sounds like a real character, and she was absolutely beautiful. Love the story about the turtles! Its very hard to lose a pet....they can love you deeper than most people are capable of, and the loss is hard to explain. In one year, we lost our first dog, Harvey, and his BFF, Wilbur died a few months later. I still think of them when the garden is producing lots of cucumbers and raspberries, their favorite foods. Someday, another pup will work his or her way into your hearts and home, but until then, know that there are lots of us who sympathize and understand.

Let's make the world a more beautiful and healthy place!

Thanks Julie. She was "playing with fire" going after the horses when the were being moved to a new pasture and got hit by a shod foot in the head...it was an accident and an unfortunate one, but she was a heeler and a real hard-headed one (not hard enough for the hit obviously) so like I said, unfortunate but part of life on the farm. I'm a pretty practical farmgirl and know these things happen but it's still not fun and I do miss her. She was a very devoted dog to me. She led a good long life and now resides on the edge of my garden.

Julie: I haven't posted for a while...but wanted you to know that I too lost a dear dog friend, Missy, last Friday and I feel your pain! Hope you're enjoying the memories and from your tribute...you are. Our furry friends are surely a joyful addition to our lives.

Julie,

I just read your blog tribute, and I am in tears. It was good for her to go on her own. I had to put my cat down, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done.

She was a great friend to you. Time helps.

Hugs,

Lori

I am so sorry. It is always heartbreaking when we lose a good friend and that is just what our pets are. If it were up to me, I would have a zoo. I am that much of an animal lover.
Take care,
Marcy

Julie, what a beautifully written tribute to Kensi! We lost Custer, our golden retriever, almost 9 years ago, He was 14 1/2 years old and it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of him. Your Kensi sounded like a wonderful companion and much-loved member of your family. Hugs to you...

Our furry kids are part of the family and it hurts so badly to lose them. My caring thoughts are with you. Every time I hear of someone losing a dog or cat, it brings tears, for them and for my sweet yellow Lab Babe that we lost in December. The others will be looking for him, but will eventually adapt. Better than us humans!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Writing about her on my blog really helped and I got phone calls from tons of my extended family last night. I sure miss her but I do feel better knowing she isn't hurting anymore and she got to go on her own terms. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my story.

Oh, Julie. I am beyond sorry for your loss. I have tears so forgive me if I mistype a bit. I know you will feel the loss of Kensi for sometime.
Love to you and Richie, and her kitties.

Julie,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, Kensi. I know how our pets do become members of the family. We have lost several dogs over the years and it never gets any easier but I do know that wonderful, happy memories will always be in your heart.

Until Later,
Audrey
