this is a fun read on what critters everyone has. Here goes, Maybe 30 old hens, that are not laying well, 1 rooster, 1 banty rooster, Roscoe, that the other birds don't like, 25 meat chickens, 2 weeks old, 25 brown layers chicks, about a week old, 31 herefords, with one late one about to calve, 1 Jersey cow Summer, 1 jersey heifer, Eve, 2 Sheep, Jack and Jill, 1 barn cat, and 1 border collie, Ruby. These are the critters that live at WindyPines Farm.

Okay..right now we have one perfect Jersey cow named Mona, two Icelandic Ewes that are mother and daughter named Juliet and Trixie, a very spoiled stinker of an angora goat named Pearl...who is Mona's best pal, a couple dozen banty hens ranging from 1 to 6 years old, one rooster named Richard, 3 meat hens that never got butchered and are actually laying eggs and earning their keep for now, one mean awful angora bunny that is 6 years old named Toby, 2 basset hounds...Stella who just turned 11, and Maggie who is 4, one mini weiner dog named Frank..he is 12 and 1/2 years old, 1 inside cat named Alice and two outside cats..Pumpkin (who is 12) and Fiona. We have had all the critters since they were babies except Mona...who was almost 2 when she came here..she is 4 1/2 now...so any mean or spoiled critters got that way here.

We have a dog, two cats and three little lady Rhode Island Reds, Isabella, Esther, & Bonnie. We have cardinals, robins and mourning doves. Once we heard a wild noise that we now call our "howler monkeys" but it was random and only that once so I don't think of it much. We have bats, Eastern Worm Snakes and lots of bugs. My boys (four of them) are avid bug hunters and LOVE to feed them to the gals. Technically we are "In town" but at the edge we hear a lot more wildlife than farther in towards the main drag.

we're keeping it pretty simple at the moment...but apparently we are sharing with a number of raccoons and possums who seem to think my chicken coop is the buffet line. We have two dogs, but they're so used to being around animals they can't chase, they don't chase the ones they should!

We have 2 dogs ( 1 springer spaniel, 1 choco lab), 4 sheep, 1 rabbit and about a dozen chickens. Today I will pick up a dozen broiler chicks. Nature has provided us with 1 owl, 2 or 3 crows, 1 flip flopping squirrel and ton of birds of all varieties. It's so cool watching them play in the water or scratch in the dirt.

I am on the down low as of now but before we moved we had 19 cows, 6 goats, 18 chickens, 2 rabbits,
2 sheep, 6 pigs, 2 cats and 3 dogs. Now I have a starter flock of 9 chickens, 2 show steers, 2 cows , 1 baby steer, and 1 dog. I hope that maybe one day soon to add a couple of milk goats back.

wow- I'm not going to include the native wildlife *U* who can count the various birds, including pheasants, quails, herrons, etc. the squirrels, ducks, snakes, owl,s hawks, etc.???
5 horses
nearly 20 goats
1 goose
50 chickens? 40? who knows anymore...
3 turkeys
6 or 7 cats
3 dogs
always coyotes- I know I said I wouldn't include the natives, but- the sneaks are always lurking.
Can one woman ever have enough pets?

Let's see, we have many wild turkeys who like to come to the birdfeeders, especially in winter , to eat whatever the squirrels knock down for them. Occasionally we may get a deer or two, lots of raccoons, the skunks like to pay us a visit every now and again. When they let fly with the stench bomb, it always seems to happen in the middle of the night, directly under my window.....We used to have porcupines, they girdled lots of my special evergreens, a big bird's nest spruce, a weeping hemlock, I don't know why they couldn't pick something else instead of my specimen plants but that's just the way things go some time. One morning after a big storm, there was a beaver in our pond. For years we had a snapping turtle who would lsy her eggs on the edge of our driveway, but I haven't seen her for several years. We get lots of nice birds, the pond is full of frogs and muskrats, we don't have any outdoor animals, but I enjoy watching my neighbor's horses and goats. We enjoy all the wildlife and living on a back road, with a big field and lots of woods, we get to see lots of 'em all the time...Karin
