I just love this little guy - well, not so little! - He came to see me last summer in the early mornings and this time he brought his girlfriend. I saw him again this morning, feeding on the bugs in my backyard. Mildred (my dog) is also very excited to see them, but not so happy when she realizes she doesn't get to go out and chase them.

After playing online at WhatBird.com (fun!) I determined that they're yellow-crowned night herons.

Cool!!!

Beautiful, Amanda! Thanks for posting that. Lucky you to get such a close up view. Condolences to Mildred, though. ;)
