Hi,

Yesterday I went to feed store to buy chicken feed and a woman was letting some small chicks loose in the sage brush. Her grandson had "gotten bored" with them and they were too old for the feed store to sell. Well, I have limits on how many chickens I can have and I really wanted to get some buff orphingtons and these are bantys. They look like a red lace wyandotte pullet, an americuna cock, and a black silky cock, all about four weeks old. I'm in northern Nevada. My standard chickens are picking on them mecilessly. Help.

I found them a great home. He just expanded his coop and run. His chickens looked really healthy. The were curious and not afraid when I walked up. He put the bantys in his brooder. He already has some bantys and his coop and run have areas the standard chickens can't get into so the bantys have a safe place if someone is grouchy. Thanks for all your suggestions and good thoughts.

Craigslist is always a great place for giveaways and if your local freecycle will let you (some don't allow pet ads) then you can try them. You can find your state and city for craigslist under www.craigslist.com and then look for your state, then the closest major city to you.

I got rid of a 66' gutted house trailer by putting up ads on bulletin boards
at local supermarkets. Did that because I'm always looking at them myself.
It worked for me - someone came and got it just so he could use the iron
frame to make himself a trailer. You never know who's looking for what.
Maybe someone would want them if they knew they were freebies. Good
Luck.

I really want standards for the eggs and meat so if I want to get my orpingtons I have to find them a home somewhere else. I only have the one coop and run and building a separate run would be too cost prohibitive.

Kathy...wait, are you asking for help in keeping them, are are you looking for someone to take them off your hands? If you are thinking of keeping them, maybe you could build them another small enclosure, or keep them in a small shed, if you have one? Wishing you the best, bless you for trying to help them and shame on the ones who dumped them because they are "bored"....hugs!!
