Chris, I'll have to take your advice...hey, Dalyn, the next time your goose lays an egg, can you send it over? :D

Well, I live in the city, that's about what you'd hafta do to get one!

kinda hard to tell, as it was scrambled with the chicken eggs...but the next one I'm going to eat myself, with nothing but toast, and I'll let ya know. I had to sacrifice the first one to novelty and the kids- they all wanted it *U* Nobody seemed to mind a bit about the taste. Last year we ate duck eggs all the time though, so maybe they are not egg snobs anymore (except for store bought)

Zan, The goose eggs taste like eggs, but have a stronger egg taste. Some like it, some don't....just have to try it
and see if it'd suit you or not.

What about it Dalyn, did you like the taste - any different than a chicken egg?

I've heard that duck and goose eggs are eaten in Asia...actually, there are a few farmers who go to farmer's markets in CHina Town here, who specifically raise geese for their eggs to sell them over there...very interesting.

Last year, I sold a dozen goose eggs for $20.00 to a viet namese man. They have a tradition of
giving them to the children (they boil the egg for 60 seconds first) raw - a tradition for good health
for children - something like that. So the man that bought them, didn't even get one - but I came
up with a few extras later (one goose was bound and determined to hatch some so she laid more in
the middle of the summer) so he got an egg of his own after all.

The first years goose eggs are, relatively speaking, small - the following years they get larger, and
larger and larger. So if you raised the goose and she's young - next year you'll have even larger eggs.
Pretty cool. Love your picture.

Whoa Dalyn, that yolk is huge? Does it taste like chicken eggs? Ha, can you see the city slicker part of me coming out? I've never had anything other than chicken eggs and I find the whole thing very curious! Looks like it makes for alot of omelettes, though! :D

WooHoo!

At the horse ranch that I go to sometimes and worked at for a summer they have two geese, one male and one female. Well the female kept laying eggs, and the daughter wanted baby geese, so she didn't pick up the eggs. The mom just kept trying and trying but I think they are bad parents and don't care for the eggs well.

Finally one hatched but from now on I think all the eggs get used for cooking! LOL

Here's the picture from this morning...the goose eggs was cracked. Man, the shell was hard! I scrambled it with a few chicken eggs. Look at the size difference *U*

*U* Well, we ate turkey and duck eggs the past few years. Our plan this morning is to scramble that big thing and let all the kids have a bit. Then I'll scramble up half a dozen chickens eggs with fried potatoes and fresh raw milk for the real breakfast.
I'm delighted to say after a winter of scarce eggs and having to ration them, I now have an extra two dozen or maybe more...time to dig up those good egg recipes!

Good for you Dalyn...but...what do you do with a goose egg? I know, or at least I think, people eat them...and then what do they taste like?
