I'd appreciate any information on this contraption my husband brought home today. Check it out on my blog. There's something in it for ya!

We love these kinds of finds...now the cotton husband will have to bring home some poultry finds! I agree, it a bring-them-to-market basket. With the floor fixed, you could use this for lots of poultry purposes besides going' to market. Isolation, nesting hens, maybe even chicks (looks like the bars might be big enough for young chicks to get out of, maybe for putting older chicks outside?)

If poultry isn't in your future, this would look really cute in your garden on some bricks or a stump or something, just add a few pots of herbs or berries or flowers or something else fun in it. A good springtime project for the kids. :)

He doesn't tell me where he finds my treasures, but he most likely dug it out of a barn somewhere. So... free!

Hi Jennifer,
It is a travel cage. I am not sure if it is an antique because people still use those tocarry their chickens to the poultry shows today. It is missing a piece. I wouldn't use it to permanantly coop chickens in. Just curious how much he paid for it?

It does look like some sort of cage that chickens could be taken to market in. I probably wouldn't call it a coup since I usually think of Coups as homes where the chickens roost and nest, but I would say your husband has a pretty good chance of being right that it was for poultry (ducks, chickens, geese, turkeys maybe?) being taken to market. But that's just my guess.
