I have a very sad case here...a little yearling doe, sweet as pie; she got vaccinated as we always do, with CDT, but got enterotoxemia anyway. She was in terrible pain and having seizures, screaming, crying, etc. I took her to one of the only two goat vets here, and that was expensive and useless, except that she gave her something for the pain. She didn't know what to diagnose.

Thank goodness for the breeders online! THey told me immediately what it was and how to treat...and she is alove, but now blind. Hopefully not permanently...but it's so sad.

Thank you. We are being diligent. It's very sad...but just now I was out in the barn giving her all her meds and sme more warm water for the night, and it just gets her going...she hates it. She had to very big seizures...yikes. It's hard to watch. One of them was in the middle of getting water in a syringe- so Ihope she doesn't aspirate! We are giving her antibiotics too, so...hopefully if it developes into a pneumonia after liquid in the lungs, we will have that covered. Good grief.

I am so sorry to hear of your little one. I will give you this piece of advice - make sure you put an eye gel in her eyes - what can happen is they little one will get an infection because she will not know to protect her eyes thru blinking and they can even just get dirt in their because they do not respond the same as if they see.

I would also recommend adding Rescue Remedy directly in her mouth about three times a day. I have seen wonderful things with this and I use it too. I will keep you and your sweet on in my prayers and thougths. Do not give up - stay with positive energy around her - we have brought worse cases out the other end

Well thanks ladies...from what I am gathering, it is very good she has lived this long- a good sign I mean. Also, her blindness may be temorary. *U*
That would be nice, becasue it is awfully sad to see in this condition. Regardless of what happens, she is ours, and we will just continue to care for her and allow her a safe, protective environment to live out her days.

Dalyn, ohno! This is truly a sad thing!! Oh, I am feeling for you honey! Were they able to tell you if the blindness is permanent?

By the way, this sanctuary (yes, apparently I am the information girl when it comes to animal help) has dealt with MANY animals with "disabilities"...and may be able to advise you. They have 25 BLIND horses on their property. They are very generous people. Maybe they can help you?

Oh, you are so sweet to be concerned for her...
