Posted - Feb 19 2008 : 11:20:51 PM Even yesterday I would have said..no new dogs for awhile..but then I found this sweet female bloodhound pup at a breed rescue..and I am in love. She is about 9 months old and is about 70 already ( I LOVE big dogs and bloodhounds are my favorite breed..drool and all) If it works out I will be going up to get her (2 hours north) on Saturday or Monday. I need to make local arrangements to get her spayed and they are holding her for me. She is black and tan and from what the rescue lady says....really sweet and calm for a bloodhound. I am not going into this blind...I have had a bloodhound before. They are such a wonderful breed..but for sure not for everyone. The kids and I are so excited..husband is getting used to the idea..he will love her when she gets here. I wanted to name her Blossom..but looks like her name will be Maybelle...I like that one too, and the kids and Steve like it better than Blossom. oh well. Anyway...thats my news for tonight...pictures coming soon if we get her!! And hey..I will need to order her a "drool chamios from Elah!!!

Posted - Feb 20 2008 : 07:50:57 AM We sorta rescued a black and Tan Coonhound--she was two, papered and all--anyway we took her in but we already had too many dogs so my daughter has her now. She is just the sweetest thing and the little boys love her. Her name is Whiskey River but my daughter calls her Whiskers. She brings her out to our place to let her run and she has the biggest smile on her face. So enjoy Maybelle. MB

Posted - Feb 20 2008 : 07:23:29 AM I can't wait to see her, Jenny!!! We always had bloodhounds at the rural shelter I worked at and they are such great dogs--not for everyone, but truly loveable!!! I like the name Blossom, too, but Maybelle might suit her just as well :)

Posted - Feb 20 2008 : 07:19:54 AM Back in the fall we got a fat little puppy and named her Punkin'. I am a sucker for any critter- which is why my poor husband had to move us out to the country and some acreage! *U* He didn't have the luxury of pets as a kid. I did! Summers in Grand Junction, Colorado and visits to Fruita to aunt Ruth & uncle Dudley's farm, where unc rode a pig around and the cats did tricks! There were pigs inthe tub (babies) and lambs in the kitchen...you didn't want to eat dinner there, but it sure was fun to visit a few hours *U*
As a kid living in poor neighborhoods in apartments or duplexes, my sister and I still found a way. We smuggled chickens in a garage, bunnies in a back lot, puppies and kittens, rats, hamsters, gerbils, mice, frogs, and parakeets in all corners and crannies. Our mother was not much better than us. She always let us until the landlord found out and then pretended to be mad, too! he he he.
