Hey there,do any of you know if any of you have put PDC powder in your chicken coop because it smelled a lot like urine , ammonia smell. The lady aT the feed store said she never has a smell because she uses that powder. We have to clean out our coop and add new shavings often. In the winter more often because they are kept inside because they get picked off by the hawks,or whatever else there is out there. Any information on helping us out would be great!faith

PlumCreekMama...... It is somthing that you use in your chicken coop so that it will never smell. And you wont have to change the chickens shavings often.

I use sweet PDZ that people use in horse stalls. I sprinkle it around areas that may get wet like the water bucket and inside the roost but I still clean the shavings out every other month. It soaks up any wet areas like cat litter but dosen't get clumpy and gross, and it keeps those areas dry. I've never noticed an ammonia smell while using that and keeping it clean every other month. It also drys out the droppings and makes it easier to clean up the coop. I just use a about 3 cups of it sprinkled around those areas and it's fine. A bag lasts me quite a while.
