Culpeppers of Troutdale, OR is going out of biz. I have bought oodles from them over the last few years and am sad to see them go.

I was driving by day before yesterday and stopped in at the TA truckstop (next door to Culpeppers) and saw the signs. I really didn't have the time but for a deal on tack, I can make the time, believe you me!

So I got 2 headstalls, normally $130 for $40 apiece, a $90 saddle pad for $30 and my hubby got a pair $260 boots for $119! The store was pretty well picked over and I now wished I had picked up another headstall and another saddle pad but am happy with what I got.

These are pics of my Gigi with the new saddle pad under my new Billy Cook saddle (previously owned, of course!). I hope they work. I took them with my cell phone as I can never remember to take the digital to the barn. If you look at the off side pic, you can still see the price tag on the pad as I didn't have my pocket knife to cut the plastic price string thing-y.

Nope, not a rough-out but basket weave and nicely small too. That saddle is one comfy spot! I'm going to change the stirrups to my oxbows and am looking for a breast collar or breast plate that will match. I'm old fashioned that I still like the dark oil...never much took a liking to the light oil and I hear the dark oil is making a comeback...I hope. hehehehe... I also am going to put a shue fly on the cinch whenever I can find the cinch that I want. But the one I'm using will do for now anyway.

Too bad such a great store is going out of business! I am glad you got to buy some good deals though!

Is that saddle a roughout? Those sure are nice for trail!

I love getting deals like that! But it's sad when a great place goes out of business.
