My brother and his wife lost their home and had to move to an apartment. They live in Spokane and have a dog that is going to be put down by the end of the week if they can't get a new home for him. The reason they are having trouble rehoming him is that he is a pitbull/boxer mix, and very few people are sympathetic towards a pitbull. I admit that if I didn't know him I wouldn't have been either but he really is sweet.

He is 5 years old and thinks he is one of their kids. He has spent most of his life with toddlers running around and has always been very gentle and patient. Their daughtor Bitsy actually learned to walk by pulling up on his fur and following him around the house. He does well with little dogs.

We can't take him because he has some dominance issues when it comes to other dogs his size. Buster is bigger than him and a little bit male aggressive depending on the dog. Sadly the two of them have already proven not to get along.

I really hate to see him killed when he has been nothing but sweet and loyal to his family. I am hitting all the places that I can think of to try to find him a new home. Please respond if you have room for him or know someone who might be able to take him on. The local shelter is full, pitbulls in need has no room, and I will find out tomorrow what the shelter here looks like and what their kill policy is.

I'm worried that he wont even have a chance because pitbulls have such a bad name. If I didn't already know him I'd be wary, so I don't know what else to do, but if you know anyone with the room or if you need a friend to snuggle with this winter let me know soon because his days are numbered.

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

You could try Ginger's Death Row Dogs. She is in North Seattle but according to her website she specializes in rescuing dogs from Eastern Washington shelters. Go to her website for links to breed specific rescue groups and other info http://www.gingerspetrescue.org/ or contact her through the website. Apparently she is a force of nature when it comes to dog rescue.

Wishing you the best.

Also, I googled "Montana Pets on the Net" and found a listing of shelters that might be able to help. Good luck, and I'll be praying for a new home for him. This just breaks my heart and I wish I could help. My in laws had a pit bull mix and she was the sweetest girl. The breed really gets some bad press, and many times it's just the environment that makes a "bad dog". Big Hugs, Lu

Yeah I've been contacting shelters by e-mail all night after they closed. Thanks for the link.
