Posted - Aug 27 2007 : 12:18:28 PM Well girls, I made the call this morning and cancelled the sale of the new horse. I found myself depressed over our financial situation, and then thursday nite my husband went to the hospital with a sprained wrist/torn ligaments. So this morning I woke up and just decided that it wouldn't be right for me to spend 900 dollars right now, so I made the call, and told the lady the truth. I told her to keep my 100 dollar deposit for her time. God has blessed me with two beautiful horses, and I already have my hands full with them, and it's just not right to spend the money right now...
Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd post a pic of the horse I'm probably getting. You girls with all your horse pics really reminded me.
He's a 7 year old Crabett Arabian Gelding.
I just had the vet out to take care of my other two horses, and the bill was twice what I thought it was going to be, so getting the new horse is going to be delayed. My mare has squamious cell carcinoma which is skin cancer in a very private place, and she had to be operated on, and it really cost me. I cried when I got the bill, but my husband just gave me a hug, said you can still get the other horse, and not to worry about the money. So I'm on my way to the kitchen to make him some salsa and a world class dinner....;) |

Posted - Sep 04 2007 : 4:26:44 PM Sounds like you have a good husband and you do have beautiful horses. I am sorry about the sale falling through, but quite honestly I would have done the same thing (and risked my dh having the exact same reaction... amazing how we can be so similar and SO different when it comes to money and spending it). Best of luck! If it is right, another horse will come your way, and with how well you take care of them, I bet it won't be long. {{[hugs}}}

Posted - Sep 01 2007 : 7:15:35 PM When I told him I called her this morning, he actually thought I did it so he wouldn't hold it over my head that he bought me a horse. That didn't work out too well...I told him I had a lot of reasons, and I guess it's ok now, but needless to say he was a little disturbed I made the call...weird...if I were him, I'd be happy....anywho...it's all good, i have two beautiful horses. Thanks, Crisitne |

Posted - Sep 01 2007 : 07:49:41 AM Oh, so sorry to hear your husband got hurt. What a bummer. Sorry to hear you won't be getting your horse, but it sounds like you are making a good decision. Too many times these days people are so far over-extending themselves for more and more stuff. Enjoy the horses you have, and maybe later down the road something else will come. Wishing your hubby a speedy recovery!

Posted - Aug 27 2007 : 1:24:28 PM Thanks Alee. Ya the surgery was crazy. I had no idea how grusome it was going to be. It was on the outside of her female parts. It was just two lumps that needed to be removed, but aparently those lumps grow a lot of blood vessels to fuel all the cancerous cell growth, and it was really yuck. She was sedated for the first time in her life, 16 years. Poor baby has stitches on both sides like two inches. I had no idea that it was skin cancer, I just thought it was like a growth. Here's a picture of Star last winter :)
