Posted - Aug 09 2007 : 08:46:49 AM I really loved the picture Beverly posted of her Golden Garden Spider, and I was serious about wanting to see what is crawling around everyone else's place! We all have such diverse climates, crops, gardens, etc., the insects must be just as diverse!
Of course I wasn't quick enough to capture my own picture of the creepiest thing in my yard, but I googled it to figure out what it was, so here's a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solifugae
One morning last week, I was doing some trimming and one of these nasty things met my thumb inside my glove! I ripped of the glove and screamed out loud when I saw it clinging to my skin! Luckily, I learned that they aren't poisonous and although I had a little bump left for a couple of days, the skin wasn't broken.
Since then, I have seen two more. I hope it is a seasonal thing?
Please share some pictures or stories, and admit if you screamed-- so I don't feel so silly!

Posted - Aug 09 2007 : 3:04:49 PM oooh, what a fun thread! I'm going to the farm this weekend and I will take lots of pics. We have spiders galore, lots of creepy cobweb (some many feet across) and lots of other lovelies... I'll definitely post some pics next week.
Janet - who eats the Beatles? Is that what happened to Ringo? (Just kidding!)
