kidney disease in animals?
One of our Boston terriers, She is almost 9yrs old now and has been diagnosed with this. This breed usually lives to about 12. She has lost a lot of weight and the vet said he would like to at least see her weight stablize. She's at 14 down from 19 lbs. It doesn't seem like a lot but you can see her ribs and backbone. She has been given food that is supposed to help kidney function and also medication. When she first started taking it she perked right up but now she is back to not seeming interested in eating again at least not the canned stuff they want her to eat. She acted like she loved it at first.
Has anyone experienced this with a dog?
Thanks,
Denise

Thanks for the links and all your words of encouragement. She has good days and bad days. Right now she is on a prescription diet from the vet. Hoping it will help.

I had a puppy with juvenile renal disease. But that's a birth defect. She didn't want to eat the food either until I started hand feeding chunks of it to her. You might try that. I'll be praying for you and your dog, I know what it's like to go through that and watching your dog get sick.

Denise I am so sorry to hear that one of your fur babies is ill. It is so scary when they don't want to eat. Asparagus and the juice it is cooked in is supposed to be good for humans kidneys, I wonder if it would help dogs. Will keep positive thoughts and send some prayers your way
Hugs, Kathy
