What is up with this weather? It's raining cats and dogs today!

We had a visitor today who won't leave - a red husky pup. She just showed up and acts like she lives at our house. Tried to come inside without any hesitation and has basically decided she wants to live with us. Hmmm?

I dragged her around the neighborhoods near us twice today - once at lunch and once at dinnertime when all the dog walkers and joggers are out. No one knows who she is or where she lives. We also rescued two other loose puppies while we were out and (luckily) found their owners before they got hit.

Also got the news that we will be inheriting some kittens in a couple of weeks if no one else can take them. They are up at the auto garage of a friend and he's retiring and has sold the garage. He had people lined up to take the kittens but they have all bailed on him, so he needs a place to take them. He's been really good to us and given us lots of free stuff for using on our farm, including a tractor, so DH has agreed to take the kittens if no one else can.

Erin-

I am glad that Pretty got a good home or temp home with you! :) She could have ended up at a much worse place!

I'm afraid her owners may be out of town. We've called all the local vet offices, we got her scanned for the chip, we have walked and driven her around the neighborhoods, but with all the rain, no one's posted missing flyers.

I am quite familiar with huskies. That was the only type of dog our family really had growing up. Ours used to roam quite a bit and we learned that many of the huskies have three or four different families that they stay with on a regular basis. Rupert used to stay with me for three days then get loose and be gone for exactly four days. I got him Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

Not sure what's up with Pretty. She's just a puppy so I'm doubly worried but there's no mention of her anywhere... I've tried posting on the internet lost and found pages (for our city), the want ads - everywhere... I had a girl who was going to take her temporarily but she's disappeared! LOL! I think she's regretting her very kind offer now. Anyhow, Pretty is a nice dog - very well behaved considering her age and the fact that she's not trained AT ALL. Not even the basics. Acted like she's never even been on a leash before or been in a car.

I think our house has a beacon on it! Or perhaps my hubby and I both wear "sucker" on our foreheads... They all seem to end up here.

Erin-

Can you take the dog down to a local vet office and have her "scanned"? She might have a microchip implant that could help you find her owner. If she look like she is in good condition then she is probably someone's pet. We implanted Sky even though she is a mutt- I would be heartbroken if I ever lost her.

You are so sweet to have rescued so many animals today! It does seem like it goes in spurts doesn't it? I wonder if the dogs were scared by early fireworks? I know people have been letting fireworks off around here for the past week.

Good luck finding her owner!

Ah...Huskies! They can roam up to 30 miles and consider it their home territory. Did you know that? Ours left home one day and was picked up in a neighboring town. Then animal control called us to let us know she was there. That's when we learned about their wandering habits.

We've got a neighbor here who's got one; really sweet dog but also a wanderer.

So, you may want to start calling shelters near and far to report her found, as you never know where she came from!

BTW...our husky? She loved that neighboring town and each time she'd get lose that's where she'd go.
