Posted - Jun 29 2007 : 7:27:43 PM Well.. Some of you may know that I have a Stray Mama Kitty that showed up late last year one day.. with a litter of kittens.. The Black Male Cat that moved on my property must have invited her to move in.. So.. In time, things happen .. Mama Became "with Kittens" yet again.. This litter was born May 31st.. expect this litter is much harder to catch & tame then that 1st.. & as of yet.. I have only been able to grap one of them.. to catch & find a home for.. The other three have been clever enough to stay just far enough away from me! I have grabbed them now & then when they were much younger.. thinking they would calm down.. & I could handle them... & find homes.. But as they get older.. They are so much more elusive!! Bad little boys that they all are! Well tonite I walked out to the garden to check on the progress & as I walked to the shed.. There were all three of them, With Mom sitting on top of the corner of the shed.. They waited to see what I was going to do... & as I got too close for them they decided to scatter,.. Frank ( the one with half a mustache) fell back of the end of the shed.. & landed on this silly life sized Fiber Glass Donkey Named Andrew, that I have in the yard!.. Now this Donkey is so old.. & I've lugged this ugly thing around for years.. he has a broken leg.. I think an ear is missing.. He survived Hurricane Andrew like 12 years agao.. or what ever that was.. But he looks a mess! The worst of him is right down the middle of his back.. what was once a crack is now the size of a very small saddle..! Probably from several Niece's & Nephew's trying to sit on him!
So.. Of COURSE Frank fell Inside this crack on Andrew!! & Lost what little mind he may have had from all the trauma he may have been getting from me ALWAYS trying to catch him! Do you have any idea what A VERY pissed of Kitten sounds like inside a Fiberglass Donkey's belly??
I am thinking something like a baby Mountain Lion inside a clothes dryer! Especialy Since I immediatly ran over & covered the opening ! Thinking THIS was My ONE Chance to CATCH FRANK!!! Would you like to know What sort of Scratches you get from a Very pissed off Kitten that was stuck inside the belly of a Fiberglass Donkey??? I'm thinking something from..Oh..I don't know.. Nitemare On Elm Street!
Have you ever been in a posistion , doing something when you know it's a really bad idea.. & you know that the very BEST thing you should be doing.. The ONLY thing you should be doing.. Is to let go of something.. But YOU CAN"T??
Well.. THIS was me.. Tonight.. With Frank, The Kitten Inside Andrew , The Donkey!

Oh my gosh! I can totally see you doing the Jet Lee kick! Frank must have decided the donkey is a good hidig place as long as no Humans stick their hands in, eh?
I am glad you are healing up! Cat scratches always hurt SO bad!!

Posted - Jul 02 2007 : 4:52:18 PM Well.. You'll be glad to know I'm still alive today.. Stupid Donkey.. Trying to eat Frank..
You'll also all be happy to hear that I was thoughly doused with nearly an entire bottle of rubbing alcohol by my sweet husband.. I think this man must really hate my guts or something.. Really WHO DOES THIS??? THIS.. is his answer to EVERY wound.. "Pour alcohol on it..".. Does he have ANY idea how that feels ???????? I bet I sounded like Frank!
Well, after I was done screaming.. & incase ANY of you were unaware i am a swearer.. So.. I held nothing back.. & once the aclohol had dried.. I then wiped Neosporin all over my hands & arms.. Everything looks fine today.. i even have scabs.. Who'd have thought at 47 years old i'd be proud of a scab?
ok.. I missed a portion of the story.. not an impressive bit.. But it was regarding Franks release.. I mentioned that i just was not able to let go.. I don't know why.. i just couldn't.. & PHYSICALY was not able to pry my hands off of that donkeys back! You should have seen the look on my husbands face from across the yard.. He'll never look at me the same way again you know.. When i was finally able to come back into my body from where ever I had floated off to.. I actually fell backward.. & had to kick that stupid donkey over.. Because I suddenly had this Very REAL vision of when I DID release my hands.. he was going to leap at my face.. So.. I did this Jet Lee kinda move where I flipped sideways through the air & kicked the Donkey over so the opening went one direction.. & i landed the other.. Except of course.. It wasn't nearly so graceful & swift with my movement ..& i didn't look anything like Jet Lee ! It was more like what Jet Lee's Grandmother might look like falling off the back of the bed or something! & I landed in my Pole Beans.. But I was scurring.. because I was AFRAID of the kitten still!! I was unsure which direction he may be fleeing off in.. & i didn't want him tearing across the top of my head..
& funny.. I STILL can't catch Frank.. But that demented kitten keeps walking over to the Donkey now! So it's like, the Donkey is ok.. But I AM the bad guy!!
Now, How did THAT happen??

Posted - Jul 01 2007 : 07:34:46 AM I just loved reading your story. As tough as it must have been there is much to be said for the little spirts of joy, smiles and of course scratches the kitties bring us. They are a blessing to any farm or home. I am overwhelmed at the present time with prego kitties and babies. the spare bedroom is a nursery. the ones who do not find homes will be fixed and taken to live in the barn. Not your normal barn. the loft is set up with bed, book shelves etc to look like a room but with lots of bales of hay around. The cats in the barn now just love it. They can get into fixes sometimes but they are so precious. I am so gald you shared the story of the donkey eating the kitten. It sure caught my eye.

Posted - Jun 29 2007 : 7:34:50 PM Too funny! I can just hear the spitting and odd echoey sound and the knife blades slashing. Are you and Frank okay? What a character you are with your fiberglass hurricane survivor...too fun. I like the way you tell a story. :)
