Mable, the head hen has passed to that great coop in the sky. I found her last night. *sigh* Not sure what happened, but she was an older hen. There is a pic of her one my garden website. She is the black hen with the red hen looking like she wants to be in the picture. It amazes me how attached I am to these little critters.

Have you ever noticed that laying has stopped when there is a death in the flock? The girls haven't laid since Mable died.

That is so sad. I am so sorry! I got really attached to a hen at a ranch I was working at. The poor little dear had glaucoma in one eye and was a bit "touched in the head" as they say. Well she went down hill pretty fast and died of natural causes one day. It was amazing sad the ranch felt for a few days.

Sorry about your hen. while looking for her picture on your web pages I notices to people dressed 50's style going to a stake dance. Just curious i went to stake dances as a teen and was wondering if we are of the same religion LDS. If so Hi and welcome there are a few of us here. If not hi and welcome and I hope to get to know you better.
