Welp, we are headed to the house for a solid week off. Right now I'm outside of Denver and can't sleep so here I am.

All we need is to buy furniture such as a couple of Lazy-Boy's and some end tables plus a coffee table and we're done buying for the place. We are going to splurge on the Lazy-Boy's cuz I figger I want to be uber comfortable for many years to come!! Oh, and get a couple of TV's for the living area and bedroom too!.

So then all the big stuff will have been bought and apart from little stuff, we're good to go. Then on to finding a horse, which I can't wait!

Years ago I won a Presidential Sports Equestrian Award (which I still have) and a 1000 hour saddle award from the Appaloosa Club, even had my pic in the App News (the forerunner of the current App Journal) and was thinking the other day how I'd like to do that again. You have to ride a registered Appaloosa to qualify.

I can't seem to get interested in showing again and don't really want to raise any more foals but just want to ride. So this seems ideal to me. For my birthday I got a bit and headstall, nothing showy, just solid.

For once, I'm doing first things first. Get the place and then on to the horse...usually I'm cart before the horse type.

Can't wait. Going to the cowboy races this wknd. Missed the Lippizaners tho but a friend is going and will let me know how it goes.

I think they still do or revived it several years ago. I haven't checked!! (blushing mightily) But I was driving along and thinking which horse do I want cuz I have friends who want me to show with them but I'm not interested. Another raises Apps but she's not making any money due to the market glut so my mind was just wandering around. I saw soem Apps in a pasture and for some reason remembered my awards. I loff Apps and so that's what I'm going to buy. But I reaaly do want a nice horse and am willing to pay. I ride western now only. I just want a nice solid-riding gelding to do this with but will take a mare if she's right. I am a gelding person but can live with a mare.

I will have to board for the time being. We still have to go on the road to make money but gtting tired so we are going to look around for a more regional or even local driving job so I can ride and hubby can go fishing and gold-panning. We will be looking for land in the near future. Hubby's ex-stepson is still a good friend and he's a real estate broker and will help us find something.

Sounds really good! Do you know if ApHA still has that program? What kind of riding do you want to do? Horses are cheap right now; it's a buyer's market. It should be easy. And if you get into the upper end prices, know that what they're asking ain't what they're getting, so don't be afraid to shoot a lowball offer.

Do you plan to board, or keep your new mount at home?
