Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 04:52:39 AM I sent in an application for my first merit badge a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard anything or seen anything on the forum. I'm not sure how long it usually takes or if maybe I didn't submit it correctly?
Thanks! Luanne beekeepersgirl #691

Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 10:25:25 AM Hi Kevin -
Please don't rush - this was just my first try at applying for a badge and so I figured I hadn't done it right!

Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 10:22:31 AM Glad to hear it worked Luanne (I received it), I'll get it back to you later today. It usually doesn't take me more than a week to process a merit badge, so if you don't hear anything past a week you can email me and ask what's going on.

Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 10:13:05 AM OK - it worked this time. I think the problem was trying to attach my list. I cut and pasted the information instead and it seemed to work fine.
Thanks again for your help! Luanne

Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 09:57:57 AM Good morning ladies,
Luanne, I went through the applications for the past two months and it looks like I haven't received an app. from you.
When you submit a badge and if it goes through, you'll be taken to a new page immediately that says:
Thanks for submitting your Merit Badge Application!
Your Merit Badge Application has been sent to "Henquarters." We'll look over your entry, and once it's approved, your entry information will be shouted from the rooftops (cooptops?) on our forum and you'll be e-mailed a set of links to your achievement certificate and badge patterns. You can print out the certificate and frame it, and then transfer the design of the badge itself to the fabric of your choice and embroider it.
Thank you for your participation! We'll be in touch!
If all you see after submitting is a blank submission page then your application didn't go through. This is almost always due to the fact that the captcha code (security code), at the bottom wasn't entered correctly. They can be pretty tricky. Just remember the characters are case sensitive; and those are not capital Os, they are zeros.
Also it's a good idea to write your application in a word document that you save. That way if it doesn't go through and you are taken back to the blank application page you can just cut and paste instead of re-writing everything.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Posted - Apr 13 2010 : 08:12:41 AM I am wondering if there is a way to set up the merit badge thing so it sends an automatic message when a new one is submitted. Something like "We got you badge application, we're going to look it over and we should get back to you in the next 2-3 weeks." Or something like that. It seems that this question comes up a lot!
