Posted - Aug 21 2005 : 09:02:30 AM Clare (or any other moderator),
I was away for the weekend. When I returned, I had a spam post in my mailbox, generated as "sent from MJF Farmgirl Connection." I saved it to pass along, but didn't one to do it in the group. Or would you like me to just send along the contact info?
Just let me know.
Best,
Paula J.

Posted - Aug 22 2005 : 10:23:20 AM I got it also (twice !) yesterday but it went into the junkmail folder! Interesting that it was weeded out even though the farm is a recognized site on my mail system. Those tiny men inside my machine earned their money today! Delete, delete... there now the bad email is all gone!

Posted - Aug 22 2005 : 02:31:01 AM My gmail account actually recognized this particular e-mail as spam and weeded it out into my spam folder. As it has never put anything from the Mary Jane site into the spam folder before, I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the programers at Google.

Kim, Mumof3, when you reported this to AOL as spam, they receive it as any message from MJF is spam, which is not the case. Any way you can clarify this with them?
Please don't take drastic actions, girls, as this is a knee-jerk thing. In the reality of computers, it is a small thing that has no adverse consequences for you if you do not reply.
Thank you.

Don't worry Clare (if I'm the Kim you meant). I didn't report it, just deleted it. But I'm glad to hear the spammer didn't have our email addresses. |

My dear,
Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into long time
I got it, too. I just turned off email privileges to MJF members. I don't know what else to do. Every public forum I've ever been on has had to deal with this. It's an unfortunate thing, for sure.

Posted - Aug 21 2005 : 10:59:30 AM I just found the same e-mail on my computer and sent it off to AOL with the Report Spam button. Gosh, it seems as though you can't do anything good any more without someone taking advantage of the situation for their own deceitful purposes. He's been blocked at my house. What a turkey! |

Posted - Aug 21 2005 : 10:44:28 AM Hello everyone. I found this fellow on the forum this morning and deleted both his posts and his account. Be assured that he doesn't have your private e-mail information, but is just using a feature of the forum which allows a participant to "send e-mail to this user." I know it's an inconvenience to get this type of e-mail, but it shouldn't cause you any problems, nor should you continue to receive e-mails from this user, since he's been deleted. I do check the forum a few times each day to try to find problem users, so we will try to stay on top of it and look for these types of posts. In the meantime, just try to ignore them.
Thank you all for your participation in our forum! Carol |

Thanks for the verification. This one may have come sometime in the past couple of days. I've been on a Scout camping trip with Ty, so just saw it.
Take care, darlin'!

This is scary. I felt safe here. I wonder who is intruding on our community. I wrote Mary Jane and also put a call into her office. What can we do? Thanks, Elizabeth |

Posted - Aug 21 2005 : 09:38:34 AM Yes I've recieved one too!! I hate to think of our wonderful little community being invaded! But at the same time, everyone needs to be warned ASAP. Just because we are aware that this is a scam doesn't mean every one who recieves it will be. We need to protect our community.
