I did a google search for farmgirl webring - I saw it mentioned on the farmgirl blog roll topic - and found it.

I have an add-in installed in my browser from my ISP (earthlink), called Scamblocker. It reported that the webring site was a possible scam and to exercise caution when posting there.

I have no idea what earthlink flags as "scams". But I do know that when I visit the webring site for machine knitting at http://s.webring.com/t/All-New-Machine-Knitting-WebRing I don't get that message. It must be a different webring vendor?

Thanks Sunshine, I was a little afraid my computer would get infected at first, but knowing one of "us" started it makes me feel a little better. I think probably based on my experience with my work site it is probably something that the ring DOESN'T have rather than something it does that makes it reported "scam". Thanks for easing my mind.

th egroup that I know of was started by a person on this forum one of the farm girls there are about 10 of on the ring me included . there are not people being added to it because it makes it look like MJF is in two spots and that is what looks like a scam when gabe has a chance to set up the one for MJ then I think the other was going to disband.

have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe

I used my home computer to log in to work this weekend (which I don't normally do), and LOL, the site that I support at work is flagged by Earthlink as a "SCAM" too!!!! I know for a fact there's nothing malicious in it, but it does contain javascript code on a BEA weblogic base, so perhaps that's all that it takes for Earthlink to flag it!

Hello.
The webring you mention isn't sponsored in any way by MaryJanesFarm. We are working on a webring here, but Gabe has been pulled in other directions for the time being. Stay tuned!

No, actually it was the farmgirl webring that came up as a scam, not the knitting machine webring. The one I am mentioning is http://www.ringsworld.com/condition_of_the_heart/, sorry I must not have included the URL in the previous post. Is this webring sponsored in any way by MJF?

I wanted to add my blogs to the farmgirl webring but definitely don't want to be flagged as a potential scammer by Earthlink. Even though there might be no scam involved, just some technique is used that Earthlink thinks is suspicioius - it's still a case of guilty by association. So I will avoid the above webring unless something changes.

Hello brightmeadow:

Depending on what you're asking-
the All New Machine Knitting WebRing seems to be legitimate as far as webrings go. I went to WebRing's site directly, and searched for "Machine Knitting". It came up from there.

However, it's not our own webring (because I'm still in the process of setting it up). I can't vouch for whether that's the webring that someone else we know may have mentioned or created, either, so I don't know whether it's "safe".

Does that answer what you're asking?
Gabe
