Posted - Jun 27 2005 : 08:52:57 AM I want to announce that I am going to start a new web site called The Artisan’s Web. It's purpose is to create a community for Artisans of all walks of life, from oil painting to knitting, sculpture to carpentry. Each artist will have their own page to display their work. All you have to do is send us jpg's of your work via email and we will post it for you, no need to know how to do anything except taking pictures and sending them to us. We would also like a bio for each artist. Also a picture of yourself would be great to let people know who you are. This is a great opportunity – come join us and show off your work. Email me if you’re interested
melissafrueh@gmail.com
PS This is completely free; we’re just trying to build a community.

Posted - Aug 06 2005 : 10:28:22 AM My grand daughter had a little fabric gnome with its hat filled with lavender! She took that doll everywhere with her, and I wonder if it was due to the lavender since smell is a new sense babies are developing. I am going to knit some of these dolls with left over yarn and stuff a little finely woven tiny sachet with lavender and put in the hat. Might be a fun idea to try. Your gnomes are very cute, and I love the variety of colors.

Posted - Jun 29 2005 : 10:14:51 AM Well we have three domain names - sqrlbee.com, sqrlbee.net and sqrlbee.org. This new community that we are starting - The Artisan's Web will be attached to sqrlbee.net. As far as marketing I'm not really sure. We're not selling anything, if the artists what to sell their stuff than they will have to have their own site and we will link to their site. Maybe in the future we will set up a shopping chart service for the artists to sell their stuff but not now. This is just a non competitive communtiy of artisans just for the sole purpose to have a place to show off their work. We know many artists and crafters who don't know or don't want to know how to build and maintain a website or want to pay for it. So we are giving them a place to still be able to tap into the huge resource that the internet is. Everyone gets a page to display the pictures of their art or craft and a bio or story about themselves and if they want a way to contact them- email, phone# or their own website. We're talking about knitters, painters, woodcraters, soap makers, sculpters, weavers and tons of other kinds of handcrafters.
