On Oprah today, Feb 8th, the makers of The Secret, are on.
It's about the law of attraction & how we attract what we think about into our lives.
Very interesting.
Just thought to pass this onto you.
Have a great day!

Blessings,

Tasha you are completely right about taking responsibility for what happens in our lives and not being victims. It's also about forgiveness, graditute for what we have and service to others.

Rob and I were dismayed at the show because we have been telling everyone around us for years now, what you believe you manifest. It's the very reason we are living our lives the way we are. I don't think it's a big secrect, I justr think people need to start taking resposibility for what happens in their lives instead of being victims of the universe.

Here's a link that shares information on how the law of attraction & God work together.
They really do and God provided us these great blessings at this time.

I am a Christian and have watched the Secret movie about 3 times before seeing Oprah. What a blessing this movie is to all people, Christian or not. It shows that science and the spiritual overlap. Quantum physics proves that there is more that just atoms & matter, the spirital in all things.
I love the graditude and asking once for what you want, then looking outward. It's awesome and as I have started to apply some of these principles my life is becoming better.
What a blessing!!! My DH has noticed the difference and my positive attitude is rubbing off on the whole family!

I'm glad you weren't offended, I was really taken aback, and horrified that my words might have been so misunderstood. (I haven't noticed any tension on the boards, otherwise I might have been more sensitive to that- but I'm new. :))

If anyone likes the Secret, read Simple Abundance. Same concept, pretty wrapping! :) And Romancing the Ordinary, as well, to a lesser extent. She talks about how it all starts with gratitude.

I thought while I was watching Oprah, that prayer could be considered "sending thoughts/energy out into the universe". But I wanted some more concrete Biblical evidence. Mainly just for my own curiosity.

I've had the Secret for a long time now. I was told about it by my holistic veterinarian, and it's been life changing. For those who are Christians (and I am a Christian too) it is more integrative than anything; that all things have a basic truth. Really the Secret is the Law of Attraction; that our thoughts are energy and what we send out into the universe is what comes back to us. What is prayer really, but a thought we send out into the universe? And I know of little that is more powerful than prayer. Other faiths call it karma. It's all one truth.

One of the biggest teachings of the Secret is that in order to have the things we really want, we must first have gratitude. Give thanks! It opens the doors for all things.

I've been able to benefit greatly from the Secret, and I continue to do so. It's for real, and it works.

If you don't want to buy the video, you can watch it online for just five bucks. My vet told me he did that first, and he was so blown away he ordered the DVD. I watched the trailer, and based on his recommendation I bought it anyway. I've also since bought the book. It's at www.thesecret.tv.

Ah, no offense taken, there just seems to be a bit of misunderstanding around the boards lately, and I just wanted to make sure that *I* wasn't misunderstanding anything here.

And is it just me, or is "hooha" one of those words that can be taken a number of ways? *lol* ;-)
Persephone Posted - Feb 08 2007 : 4:39:40 PM
Oh, I"m sorry. I didn't mean ALL metaphysical stuff is "hooha", I just meant that I was wondering if THIS particular thing was metaphysical hooha. I'm actually very into metaphysics, and believe very strongly that not everything can be explained by science or whatever. But I'm also a skeptic of some things, and I like to think about it before I accept it or dismiss it. That's all I'm saying. And I'm a Christian, but don't assume that you know what I believe from that label. I truly didn't mean to offend anyone!

Argh! I missed the first half hour of Oprah today (but managed to catch the second half - obviously ;-) Does anyone know where I might be able to watch what I missed? (I haven't seen the movie or read the book yet, but the little bit I did catch of Oprah really made me want to). Oh, and Persephone, I just wanted to mention that not everyone here equates metaphysics with "hooha." (I'm NOT trying to start anything - see Meg's post in another topic - just wanted to remind folks that not everyone is Christian or holds to the same belief system. That doesn't mean that there isn't something to be learned from all areas of life...)
Persephone Posted - Feb 08 2007 : 2:20:47 PM
I saw it today, and I was really thinking before Oprah that is was a lot of metaphysical hooha. But I did want to watch Oprah, just to see. It sounds like the same thing that Sarah Ban Breathnach was talking about in Simple Abundance (which I just read recently, and LOVE). And, as a Christian, I'd like to read the Bible and look for verses that support this. I want to see if it's Biblical. I think I might write in my journal about that. If I do, I might post it here if anyone's interested. (Not sure how many others are Christian here, or if you're not if you'd like to hear anyway.)

This was a great movie, I think I'd like to purchase it for myself.
It sure gave me a boost after Christmas. It was offered for a week, free on Google video, I watched it 4 times and I still try to get my mind back to thinking about abundance. When I feel I'm getting negative.
