Go to www.alafarmnews.com and scroll down the page until you find an article called something like "Neal Vickers-Balancing Radio, Family and Farm" and that is MY article for them this month!

I hope to have two articles in that statewide newspaper every month from now on! They are distributed through the mail and to every farmer's co-op in the state!

I'm also writing for a couple of other monthlies now!

I've had hundreds of articles on the Internet through the years through the regular "news" newspapers that I have written for but this is a big THRILL for me because this is the first one since my career has taken a new direction!!!!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT!!! more to come!!!!! LOVE YOU ALL! suzy

Way to go Suzy! I saw your post the other day and made sure I got back to read it when small fingers were not pulling mine yelling "MELMO" every few minutes! What a nice story about a great family that is living "the good life" on their own terms! I too enjoyed your writing style, very accessible and made me want to read all about them! Nice job, this is the start of great things on YOUR TERMS!!

with a happy heart

Suzy
Great article and I love that you were willing to give some little one a second chance. Give Rudi a huge hug from a Pry lover and raiser. They are the best thing on four legs. Keep it up because it is hard to get the word out that life can be so much better then what is played on the TV. Congrats from the Funny Farm.

Brenda, you asked how I dig up my ideas....it helps that I am still "like a little child" even though I'm a 54 year old farmgirl!

One of my previous editors said that I approached everything through the eyes of a child, always with wonder and amazement and always willing to learn something new.....I "think" that was supposed to be a compliment....ha! At least I took it as one!

The article on the Internet was one that was my idea, although they will give me some assignments or steer me toward particular people they'd like me to write about. I met Buddy because we bought worked in news and 11 years later, he and his wife are still some of my dearest friends in "the next county over."

thanks to the rest of you for your congratulations! I freelanced a great deal in the 1980's but when you're working as a newspaper reporter and then an editor, the news kinds of takes over your life...

I feel blessed to be able to write about farming, homesteading and farm issues now, since that is such a great part of my life!!!!
