My husband & I are looking around at homes for an "eventuall" B&B here in N.J. Thats one of the reasons I've been working at baking and other food service jobs. I've been buying things that I will use when it actually happens. The name of it will be "Wildfleur Cottage" of course. I am so very exceited. Were not there yet but getting closer & it feels so right. We have a few towns were looking at w/ wonderful bustling main streets & my very own cottage garden. We may purchase a turn key & just change a few things but were still not sure about that. It will be a retirement type of thing & not very big but still ours. Just wanted to share this w/ you. Like I said were not there yet but so much closer then before.

Julie, What a beautiful place your parents have - you must love going to visit them!
Michelle - What a perfect dream to pursue. Having a love for what you do makes any struggle to get there worth it!

julie, thanks, loved the web-site. Nancy, a turn key means it is already to go. You can make little changes but the B&B is ready for business. Thank you all so much for your kind words. We (I) mostly have been looking for something to really fulfill me in the last few years that I can do as I get older, this is it. It is truley "my thing". Its been alot of trial & error especially when we realized the farm thing wasn't going to take off BUT I'll still grow many things in my cottage garden and I'll put my farmgirl self in everything. I really am very exceited about this. My husband is also and I am thrilled about that!

Michele,

I think that is wonderful! It's such a great way to use your farmgirl skills and take care of others. And, it's a great retirement way to live and work. Keep at it and keep us posted. Can't wait...

Michele, that sounds like such a lovely dream; full of hard work, but the 'fun' kind. My favorite B&B is The Gladstone House, in Exmore on the eastern shore of Virginia. It is run by a couple from New Jersey (coincidentally!), who took early retirement and moved to Virginia and started this venture. They love it, and they really embody the true spirit of 'innkeepers'. Best of luck as the search continues. (And Nancy Jo, I believe a 'turnkey' operation is one that is ready to go at the time of purchase, not requiring fixing up or alterations.) Have a great day everybody, Nance.

Good for you Michele! I hope your dream comes true -- soon soon soon. Are you working on menus? It would be fun for us here to brainstorm with you on great breakfast fare.

Michele,
This whole thing sounds so exciting, so what is a turn key? You could tell us all kinds of stories when you open up. And of course we will need to see lots of pictures.

B&B's are AWESOME. When I was growing and we'd travel we'd always stay with people at B&B's. Today the people at several of them are just like family. The one lady we actually sit with her at night and morning and talk. She's from VA and has the beautiful southern drawl. It's great...GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Hey! Mu mom and dad jsut opened a B&B 2 years ago after searching for 13 years! Check out their website www.orchardhousebb.com you can access their email from that web page and I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you called. I know both would be more than willing to pass along some advice. They did not purchase a turnkey but looked in to both. Tell them their daughter Julie sent you when you talk to them.

Jewelry, art, baskets, etc.

Good luck with your search, Michele. It's wonderful that your husband is on board with the plan, too. Are you buying furniture and things to decorate with? It all sounds like a huge, fun adventure! :) Keep us posted!

How great is that!! I think a B&B would be just wonderful. I would love that someday..maybe when my kids are grown. I don't know that my hubby would be as "into" it as me..we will have to see. I love the name you have picked. How fun! I have only stayed in a B&B one time and just loved it. It wasn't very big one either, but just so special! I will keep good thoughts that you will find a place pretty soon.
