Would you, or do you, take homemade vanilla extract to sell at the Farmer's Market? I am concerned about the heat? We are under a tent, but it may be high 80's and low 90's. Just curious if I should worry about it or not.

Sharon,

Yup, we have discovered it works great for helping to heal but not preventing. My son was eaten, badly! I missed one on his leg and after two days it was pussy and ugly while the others were healing nicely. it's doing better now that I found it.

Laurie, I use lavender essential oil for deer fly bites. I get welts and just do not feel well when they get me. The lavender oil keeps the swelling down and reduces the pain. (sorry to hi-jack Kristina)

We had the lavender festival this weekend and I sold a lot just for that reason. Even had other customers testifying to how great it was, though it does not repel deer fly which are a problem right now here.

Thanks Laurie. I did contact the market board, and they said I could sell it, but I am still contacting the county we have it in, to double check.

I hadn't thought about the ice and towel, but did think about a cooler. That's a great idea.

BTW, I may be ordering that lavender spray yet. I was eaten alive out there, while picking a few strawberries yesterday (early morning).

Several thoughts here. 1)Is it permissable to sell at your market? Some markets have restrictions. 2)Put them in a cooler. We make our egg folks do this since they are out until 1 in the afternoon. Place ice on the bottom and cover with a towel then place your extract on the towel. Should keep it cool enough. Test this thought first, of course and put a thermometer in the cooler, too.
