gurlz .. i sent this to my Kentucky Ramblers .. and wanted to share it with you too! i am sooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!

=================

OH HONEY CHILES!!!!!!!

last week, good friend, Pamela Anthony, from Beehind Thymes (owner and creator of Beehind Thyme Shoppe just outside Cambellsville, Kentucky .. and on the road to Green River Lake) .. and I visited Kathy (Sugar Bucket) at her 'grande opening' of her magnificent primitive shoppe in Bardstown. We were oooohing and aaaahing and drooling over everything (while, it must be told that skinny little Pamela was eating her weight in sweets that Kathy had set out for visitors that day!) .. BUT THEN .. she and i had were about to scratch each other's eyes out whilst fightiing over a mos' magnificent and very long primitive 'counter' that the food was set out on!) WELL .. Pamela had even gone up the cute little stairwell to the 'attic' of Kathy's shoppe .. and while i ran up the steps to take a peek .. she went and bought that incredible counter from Kathy for her own Beehind Thyme shoppe!

Meanwhile, i'd discovered a cute olde black three legged metal stool tucked upstairs .. and was dragging it back downstairs .. and told Pamela that i would let her have the counter ON ONE CONDITION .. that she would do one of her fantastic sheep and salt-box house paintings on the seat of it!

With a mouth full of cream puffs, Pamela comes jumping up and down over to me .. eyes big as the moon .. and says: "oh Frannie! let's you and me have a shoppe in Sugar Bucket's upstairs attic!" To which i IMMEDIATLEY replied: YESSSSS!!! Since i wasn't 'scarfing down a ton of sweets, (like someone i know and love .. but whom will remain nameless .. but her initials are Pamela Anthony!!!! ... well, i was gittin' ravenous .. and we decided to go around the corner for a little 'smackerel' of sumpthin' to eat and to talk it over!
The talk was not IF we were going to do it .. but just to excitedly discuss the WHEN of it!

Well .. we came back from lunch fit and full as little piglets (Bardstown has GREAT little restaurants all up and down main street!) and it was decided that we will open our little shoppe (we're still deciding on a NAME for it!) the FIRST OF NOVEMBER!!! Gosh .. i will be travelling to Ohio again to caretake those angel-babies, Lucas and Sofia for a few weeks for most of November .. sooo .. it will be all i can do to get some treasures over there for Pamela to push and shove into corners! (She will do a MARVELOUS job of it too .. just visit her Beehind Thyme shoppe someday to see what a grande job of decorating she does!) I figger our "GRANDE OPENING" will officially be about the beginning of December .. when i get back home to 'ole Kentuck! But feel free to come for a little 'preview' during the month of November too! I'll be 'raping' our own cabins to give up some of my own cherished antiques .. and while in Ohio, I will run out to find treasures every time the kids take a nap! NOT REALLY!!! (Wednesday would have a stroke if she saw that sentence!) But i will do lots of running on the weekends all through ohio looking for more wonderfuls for our Bardstown shoppe ... AND .. i still have TONS of great stuff all packed in the 'schoolhouse' here at Cabin Creek Farm (a thirty year collection!)

NOW .. all this surely does not mean that i will be giving up my booth at my beloved Glovers' Station in my Beloved town of Greensburg .. actually, i will be putting lots more things in there too as i unearth them out in that schoolhouse! Soooo .. be sure to shoppe there too!!!!

Well, anyhoo, gurlfrenz .. i just wanted to let you all know of this fun new adventure that i will be going on with two wonderful Kentucky friends, Kathy and Pamela. OH the grande plans we do have! We will be offering classes and tea parties and a monthly newsletter .. and i'll even post pictures of 'smalls' from time to time to offer to you gurlfrenz who don't live close enough to visit often!

Needless to say .. i'm as excited as a kid in a candy store! Let me know when you might be visiting sometime .. life is ever so grande and gets more fun with each passing day!

hugs and kisses!!!

Best of luck to you from a born & bred Ky. girl.........living now on the edge of the continent in California. Returning to the motherland this summer, however! Just can't wait anymore for the life I've dreamed of - going to start making it happen. Reading your posts have really made me feel happy about our intended move. (It will be a return for me, but the first time for my 2 kids.) THANKS for the inspiration! And I will definitely stop by your shop. Antiqueing (sp?) is one of my favorite things to do.
And Bardstown is close to Danville, #2 on my list as a potential place to live.
Keep us all posted,
Melanie

Frannie - My friend Susan and I(and our dh's, of course) are planning to come to Bardstown for some holiday shopping this month. Is there a particular date you can recommend(weekend)? Also, where/what street is your/your friend's shop? We are SO excited!! :)

Nance in France Posted - Oct 20 2006 : 10:26:24 AM
Greetings again! This was the first (and maybe only) visit my mom makes to France, so I am really thankful that she gathered her courage and came without my stickinthemud homebody dad!! She is nearly 78 so all this flying and time change and sightseeing was a whirlwind for her....a once in a lifetime experience that she truly enjoyed. She was given a beautiful journal by a cousin, and to help her really remember what she saw (in case my photo talents failed occasionally), whenever we visited somewhere, we picked out a postcard representative of the site. Then she did her "homework" every night by writing down her thoughts of the day. Her memory is starting to sputter now and then, and it was difficult for me to really see my beautiful talented brilliant mother grasping for a thought or forgetting something I had said recently. Living 24/7 with somebody gives such a broadened insight doesn't it?

Anyway, happy to be back in my Norfolk nest again, the only house I ever truly wanted to live in....powerful emotional connection!! Yep, home for the holidays will be my annual goal. I always host Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and my parents host Christmas Day. My grandmother and great aunt used to have huge Christmas Eve dinners for the paternal side of my family, right here in the house I now live and love in. I resurrected that tradition when I moved back to Norfolk with my two little boys about 25 years ago. Christmas Day is always my mom's side of the family, but my paternal grandma and aunt always came for that too. I think your phone idea is a good one, and I'll be delighted to be your phone sistah. Just let me know how it is gonna work and I'll jump on board. OOOOHH, the sun's out again, yippee! Nance

oh p.s. on that phone thingie .. can you let us know (i'll be your phone sister) where you can be located should you disappear from the farmyard for too long? other e-mail addresses available .. someone else we can contact? i'll give you my husband and daughter's e-mail addresses as alternatives (phone calls might get a 'tad' tooooo 'spensive! they both pretty much know my whereabouts most of the time! xo

Bonjour and howdy ya'll from Nance, temporarily NOT in France!! Frannie, I came back with my mom on October 3rd, after her two week "look see" at France.....my luggage decided to take a later flight however, so laundry was delayed a bit!! Hubby won't be joining me here til mid November which is only going to give me more time to whack and hack my way through my jungle of a backyard garden....made pretty good progress so far I am happy to say, although my manicure is definitely not ready for a photo op! We will be staying through the first week of January, then head back for Saint Laurent. He just ordered a load of wood so we have happy nights in front of the chimney to look forward to when we go back. I check my email, etc. at my girlfriend's computer across the street at least every two or three days, so hopefully I won't miss out on too much of the farmgirls fun here! Hope the new storefront plans are humming along. Nance

Finally, something to get me back to Bardstown. I love the city, but always hated the shopping. Some of those antique ladies can be kinda stuffy and I think they really don't want to sell their things!
We stay at Pleasant Hill, Shakertown about 4 times a year, and head to Bardstown and surrounding areas for stuff to do, so I'll be looking you up!

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.
