Argh!! A friend of ours wanted something of ours, we said we'd hold it for her till today. Even marked it down due to 'friendship'. I marked it sold on our website and FB page.

This morning she showed up, bought a bowl and decided she didn't want the bigger, more expensive item. Good thing I hadn't turned down any other offers!! Then I had to redo our website and FB page.

So, I should know this from selling horses, if you don't have a down payment or the payment itself, it's not sold till you have the money.

ARGH!!!

That's exactly why I DON'T "Reserve" listings in my etsy stores....It took me only once to come to the conclusion and I was amazed at how snotty some people are-complete strangers- when you let them know that you DON'T reserve...

I am so glad you had someone waiting in the wings for it!

Heh, very good advice. We've done things like that at our yard sales, once even taking the table to the guys' house when he couldn't do it. Things like that.

Our neighbor lives right across the road and hubby has known them for years, even arrested the man several times back in the day! Good friends, though, after the man got his act together. But, I should have gotten a couple of bucks anyway...

Lesson learned (again and again!!)

You have my sympathies! People don't value your effort to change your marketing, unfortunately...

Last weekend I talked to a fellow vendor at a fair... She said so many people would tell her they wanted her product (a children's book) but didn't want to carry it around all day. I told her to take the money then she could put it in a bag with a copy of their receipt and hold it for them until the end of the day, so they wouldn't have to carry it... The light went on!

I think it is all about overcoming objections.
