Posted - Feb 11 2012 : 05:58:27 AM Sisters,
Last winter, after a year of my gentle nudging, nagging, down-right insisting, my husband began creating artisan jewelry from lampwork and art glass and semi-precious stones. We spent last year doing a number of craft fairs, but it was difficult because we were often stuck in between the bottle-cap necklaces and the relabeled import items.
We decided this year to start applying to art festivals and he has been accepted into his first (of many, I hope)! Follow us on our calendar on our web page.
So, his workbench has become a flurry of activity and his buying agents (our children, haha!) have been commissioned to seek out unusual stones for his creations. The marketing department (me) is busy creating "backstories" for his creations and applying to other shows.
After three years of seeing him somewhat adrift, it is a great thing to see him with some purpose. I'm truly proud of him and just had to share!

Posted - Feb 14 2012 : 01:42:00 AM Wow, as a silversmith i can honestly say that is wonderful!..that necklace is beautiful & I love the way he has it laid out...I am happy to hear he has been accepted into some of the Art Fests...I know its a hard area to sell in...like you said bottle cap & foreign stuff is cheaper than the truly handmade....I have a Etsy site plus done the art fairs with never a sell...up here its hard to get into the art fest & if you do it is very costy in the fees......I am happy he is doing what he loves & has a good hen backing him....tell him this old silver smithing hen is proud of him...Michele'
