What seems to sell?
My life is coming to a place where I will have---GASP---TIME on my hands!!! I have not had significant amounts of time for a VERY long time, and I have always wanted to figure out a small home based business in which I can sell things that I have made.
I am a crafty person...I can sew as well. I have toyed with everything from aprons to children's clothes; from learning how to knit and sell to making jewelry!
You can see the problem here!!! I like too many things.

So, in your opinion...what sells? I am not looking to make a mint--probably just enough to refuel my crafting habit and maybe go to a movie with the hubby-my treat !
Any thoughts???

Just a Brooklyn, NY gal trying to figure out this country thing after 12+ years in the woods of NE PA! Wife of my HS sweetie going on 23 years and mom to the amazing four ages 19(g), 17(s), 14(s), 13(s)!

Free time?! Bless you. If you are selling locally it just depends. I think a little of everything is great. I sell, would you believe it, tons of laundry soap. I also sell lip balm, toothpaste, bar soap and crocheted hats. Another lady I know gets lots of orders for the really cute crocheted baby hats that look like flowers or ladybugs, etc. Wishing you luck on your new adventure.

Hi Donna -

If you like to sew, have on considered doing custom sewing (alterations, etc.)? I know in my area I have looked for someone to do some sewing for me, and there is no one to be found. Just simple stuff - shortening skirts, replacing zippers, etc.?

My daughter-in-law makes cute tutu's for little girls. She said they're real easy to make and she sells out at every craft show she attends. She also sells a lot of baby wipe covers and bibs that have the childs name embroidered on the front. And she sews little tutu's on onesies, then adds ribbon around the neck and sleeves.

I have kind of been in the boat these days. I have been crocheting Kindle covers and dishcloths, just little things, and was thinking of selling them too. I don't really intend on getting paid for my time so much as I just need money to buy MORE yarn! look around on etsy and the such. I think things that there are not a bajillion of may do better. Like there are a ton of people who do hair bows. It would take forever to find what you like, and it would equally take forever for someone to find you.

My sister has been doing personalized Christmas stockings and does pretty well. She gets a picture of the person and scans it on to photo transfer paper and sews it on stockings she has made. She stocks up on fabric after Christmas when it is marked way down and buys enough for the whole year. I think people like the personal touch of things like that.
