Posted - Jul 05 2011 : 07:46:26 AM There is a wonderful book on this topic-fun & easy to read in style-called "The Handmade Marketplace" By Kari Chapin. She goes into pricing and so much more. Another factor in pricing is where and how much you pay for the yarn- Big lots often sells all sorts of yarn starting at $1 a ball and some for more. Yard sales often offer a ton of yarn at give away prices. The lower the yarn cost, the better the deal you can offer. Sets also give you a chance to charge more. Like 3 dish cloths,so on & so forth.

Posted - Jul 03 2011 : 4:54:35 PM You can look at my pricing at my etsy shop. I looked on etsy to find pricing of items I make. I haven't had a problem selling them locally, but have yet to sell crochet items on etsy. Dishcloths are $4 for regular cotton, $5 for organic. I don't know about potholders. I agree with the previous poster - it's cost of supplies plus time spent - but you have to go with your local pricing and/or online pricing. If you're too high, nothing will sell.

Is it single thickness or double thickness? Does it has a potholder insert to protect hands? Have you price matched with similar items in your area or the online community? And cost of supplies plus time spent.
