Hi ladies,

I am experimenting with making natural handmade bath and body products and I am considering selling them in the future. I was wondering if someone could tell me if I can just package and sell them or are there regulations that I need to be aware of. Any information in this department would be helpful and greatly appreciated!!!

also know that you will need to file with the IRS...oh I am sorry I had to say that, but if you make so much $ in a years time you have to pay taxes on it...if not I someone reports you are selling this stuff you could get hit will huge fines or worse.....Also for your sake get a tax ID number...that way you have a ID for the taxes or anyone else that may ask you for it...plus a Tax ID will get you wholesale prices on the ingreds to your stuff in a lot of stores & on line. good luck Oh & keep really good records...hang on to every receipt ect...even if its for pennies.....Michele'

Hi Holly ~ I make and sell herbal skin products. Be aware that you need insurance. I would highly recommend having your company under a LLC or other set up. This protects you if you are ever sued. Believe me there is someone out there that will try and sue you if they get a rash... Also set up a seperate bank account. This will help with taxes

I am excited for you!! The one thing I am sure is a rule to follow is the labeling of your product. Due to allergies etc, you would need to list the ingredients. They would need to be listed starting with the ingredient that is the largest quantity on down. . for example:
using lemonade as a reference, it would be water, sugar, lemon on the label, since water is the largest ingredient, sugar next etc. Hope that makes sense for you!

Also, the consumer protections agency's website has lots of useful information for you as well. Don't forget your states website, it too will have lots of helpful information.

Wishing you much success with your endeavor!!
