Posted - Dec 03 2010 : 5:09:30 PM Hello!
I live in New York State, and am looking at making my little home business "official"-actually registering as a business. Does anyone know of any good resources or places to go to get information on what I need to do to make this happen? I've looked online, and the information I'm seeing seems to be confusing and often contradictory.
Thanks!

Posted - Jan 07 2011 : 12:08:38 PM I'm in NY, and have a business set up. You need to get a sales tax certificate, go to www.tax.ny.gov to find info. Set up as a DBA, and list it on your tax certificate. You file tax forms a few times a year, then once a year once established. It's not hard, just paperwork. The sales tax ID number they give you will allow you to buy goods tax-free for resale, and purchase wholesale. Certain businesses require more like licensing, fees, etc. Lots of info for you on that site! Good luck! Congrats! :)

Posted - Dec 06 2010 : 07:39:29 AM Try the New York Business Council http://www.bcnys.org/ Our business council in Wyoming was very helpful in helping me get set up as a "real" business. If you don't get what you need from the website, call them and ask for phone conference with an advisor. they also have great ideas about future funding, business and general business questions.
What is your :little home business?
