has anyone been involved with direct sales companies like Avon and such ? I need to make some extra money and wondered if this would be a viable idea. Ohio is not a good place to find a job right now. thanks for any feedback :)

I sold skin care and cosmetics, party plan, for 16 years. The problem was investing in inventory. You had to buy the products then resell them. I now set up customers accounts with an eco-friendly catalog company. Customers shop directly from the manufacturer and I get commissions. I like it much better. I have a link on my blog.

I sold AVON for 6 years, and you can make lots of sales....all you have to do is leave books everywhere you go, and it sales itself! But, a word of caution, you can easily become thier best customer and spend your hard earned money right back into the company! Just watch all your money carefully!! You can do well with them if you do...Good Luck!

I sold Avon for 3 years, then got too busy in my real job to do it. Avon sells itself. You just need to make the contacts. It does take alot of time, but you can make money at it if you work it like a real job. i wouldn't do anything that makes you do parties. Didn't work for me. I've also sold Watkins and it sells itself too. Just put an ad in the paper. They call you. :}

I have sold Avon, Mary Kay, Watkins etc. If you believe in the product & talk about it wherever you go-you can make sales. You really have to be careful because you have to buy their supplies-that you don't spend all your profits on stuff!
