Posted - Jun 14 2010 : 12:46:45 PM If I would get up early, I could run out and give the mailman a cold bottle of water. LOL. Good idea. Marly

Posted - Jun 07 2010 : 06:39:30 AM My first husband, his father, and my current father-in-law are all mailmen, lol. I know that they all really appreciated tokens of appreciation.
On the other hand, we got in a serious...uh...altercation with a rural mailman one time, who was tearing around the neighborhood in his mail truck with many children present. It was just about a redneck throw-down with the mail carrier! Lol! He ended up quitting the next day! So, sorry for those of you with grumpy mail carriers...I feel your pain.

Posted - Jun 04 2010 : 1:43:40 PM We used to give our mail carrier all sorts of goodies. Everything from fresh lemonade and cookies to small gift cards to panera which I had seen him at once or twice. He always was polite and he commented on how "this" is the longest route in the area and no one is going to want it when I retire. He was right!
However, we have been in mail carrier limbo for the last 18 months. So it is a rare occasion that I give them anything. They are by far too rude and grumpy. Recently there has been one that I have given a cold soda and cookies to. He has become my favorite because he is friendly and is always here at the same time. We only have once or twice a week though. :( Maybe if I keep giving him goodies he will tell them that he will take our area.
Hugs~

Posted - Jun 01 2010 : 04:33:47 AM Oh, Jane that was pretty funny! My girls used to hide in the bushes next door with the hose and try to ambush our mailman. He caught onto them pretty quickly. Good thing he's a good sport. Around here our mailmen ride around in A/C mini-vans. We've tried to give him a cold water or soda but he normally doesn't take us up on it. Now, the garbage man - he does and really appreciates it.

Posted - May 30 2010 : 04:14:46 AM One very hot day when I was little, my brother and I were outside playing with the hose. We lived in a rural area so the Mailman only came to the house it it didn't fit in the box. This day the mailman brought our package to the house and walked right by us on the way to the house. On his way back my brother stared him down like it was the OK corral. Sure enough as he passes the second time my brother shot him dead on with the hose. My poor Mother was mortified. That guy still remembered that for 30 years until he retired about ten years ago. My brother sure gave him a cold one. Jane
