Two weeks ago I made a batch of whoopie pies for my girlfriends birthday. She LOVED them and took them to work and shared and...well they LOVED them too. So she posted about it online and it caught the attention of a prominent business owner in a nearby town who contacted me about....whoopie pies. So guess who's makin whoopie and gettin fat off it? I AM!
My cost is low, I get 2 dz per batch and I have 12 flavors. I've already made an invoice, tags and got boxes & stuff to make it 'personal'. And I've been contracted to the sum of $600 for one company. I guess what I'm gettin at here girls is, I know the economy is bad, but you never know when something is gonna fall right smack dab in your lap! I'm still shaking my head at my good fortune! I was getting a little nervous with farmers markets being over for the year....now I'm doing custom baking and fudge...Whoda thunk it?

Dawn ... you go girl. I am excited for you. We love whoopie pies. Have you thought of a fall flavor like pumpkin or spice? Could you do a carrot cake flavor? Just wondering.

That is fantastic Dawn. I received a call from a woman who needs a lot of smock aprons made. I have been meaning to make some to sell, but just haven't had the time. The woman is going to send me an old smock for me to make a pattern off of it. I have patterns, but if the smock is just right, then I should make a new pattern from the one that works.

Dawn, they sound delicious. I think that people take one look at the whoopie pies and that is it. They have to have one. I did a search on whoopie pies. It sounds like something that has been around for a while, so people know about them.

Oh! I 've got one Dawn! We used to make oatmeal whoopie pies with vanilla filling. Oatmeal cream pie. Soooooo good.

A whoopie pie is two little cake mounds...kinda looks like a hamburger bun. It has a fluffy frosting sandwiched in the middle. They are addicting! AND I can use Mary Janes chillover powder in my filling to thicken it up. Works like a charm!

I like Kristin have not heard of the whoopie pie unless its the one you put a marshmellow on a cookie and cover it with choclate. Is that it? Either way best of luck to you It sounds as if it was a job made just for you. Congratulations.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Coconut? Maybe some seasonal ones like Pumpkin Pie, Peppermint Twist? How about a Buckeye one (Choc/PB) for football season since you are in Ohio?
