Posted - Aug 14 2009 : 3:06:23 PM I am considering opening an online shop to sell some of my farm goods (handmade soaps, birdbaths, bird houses, bird feeders, mosaics and many other items). I am new to the internet and unsure the best route. I have noticed that many of you use the etsy shop and some the blog spot. Can anyone tell me the difference and any pros and cons and are there other sites I should consider?

Posted - Aug 14 2009 : 10:15:26 PM Hi Victoria I use Etsy for my selling but just opened my shop a few days ago. I have to say I think they're prices are very reasonable compared to ebay and I liked that I can load 5 pictures of my wares at no charge. I'm not a very good photographer though so I'm happy with the size of my images as they show to prospective buyers but my camera skills suck...LOL. I use blogspot.com to blog and love it. Many of the farmgirls use it and you can get such nice backgrounds and load on your site and they let you upload nice sized images to share. You can "follow" other friend's blogs also which is fun. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Posted - Aug 14 2009 : 3:08:58 PM I really would consider Art Fire for your handcrafted wares. I like the way the photos show much better than on Etsy. I also sell a small amount of things on eBay,and if they buy I refer them to my Bonanzle & Art Fire booths as it costs far less to post items there than on eBay. For blogging,I like Blogger.
