We have a deer that keeps getting into the garden. She did not eat anything really, just a couple of leaves off the cucumber plant. I would see her and make my presence known, talk to her asking her to feed on everything in the field, just not my garden!!

Well, last night I spot her, she is at the edge of my driveway she wants to run, but hesitates. Looking at me with those big sweet eyes, I said "It's okay, you can stay there" two seconds later I see why she was distressed. . . her new born fawn!! Just born and trying to stand!!

What a great reward for not chasing her off the past few weeks!!

Thank you, she is so sweet! She knows we will not harm her so she feels safe in our yard. The other night, I looked out at the chicken coop to see what the "Girls" were all talking about. . . there she is right up to the fence nose right down to the Girls visiting them!!

It was so sweet! As she passed behind the coop, the girls ran in from the left side, through the coop and out into the big pen. . . all to stay with her as she grazed. I tell you, life is stranger than fiction! Who knew they would interact that way.

Oh, Joanna! That is too cool and I love the photo of her. She is really pretty! I can't believe that she had her baby in your yard and you got to see it while it was just minutes old. I just love the idea of that! Thank you for sharing this wonderful happening!

What a joy to watch! We have a doe with twins that has been close to the house every morning. They love the apple tree droppings. It is so much fun watching them play.

She is so sweet. If I am outside and no one else is around, she usually stays where she is eating. In the picture, the undergrowth just to her right is where the fawn is hidden.

So sweet...I believe that we are truly graced with these graceful creatures. Each and every time I meet one in our woods, or see one in our yard, I KNOW there is a higher power!

So sweet about her little one....we are all nature's guardians.

Twins!! How wonderful!!! So happy you were able to see her!!

We have a second Doe, she gave birth about a week ago, so now we have 2 families in our field. With the baby turkeys, the fawns and the baby moose. . . I feel like a wildlife nursery. .. that's a good thing from my perspective.

That is so neat! What a great reminder to re-think my actions. I don't mind deer, but then I have a deer fence around my garden. We seem to have a truce for the moment.

Joanna< We say a mama deer and her fawns...they were also just born and trying to walk...They were on the other side of the pasture...our dog Mack usually barks his head off...but I think he knwe she was there with her babies and he just stood next to me and watched her until she and her babies were safe in the woods...This is amazing..I havent seen anything like that since I lived in Maine in my 20's..

Oh how sweet! We have them come into our back yard to get the mulberries when they ripen. Haven't seen any fawns yet though. What a wonderful memory and how wonderful that she trusted you.

I am hoping to get a few pictures of them over the weekend. If I do, I will be posting them for sure!! She has brought the fawn up close to our home. Nestled into a hedgerow, just out of our camera range.
She will have her little one out and about soon enough!

I feel so blessed, she is such a good mama, the baby is just to sweet for words.

What a sweet story. I am glad you let her stay. Two years ago we had a Doe birth twins in the woods by our fence line. They were in our pasture everyday. Neat to watch. Lucky you and the mama too. MB
