sure will mary .. i must say if i've ever seen one .. i sure didn't know what i was looking at!

i googled ammunition basket and came up with this:

http://users.zoominternet.net/~basketc/ammo.html

Historical Baskets, Etc.
Ammunition Basket

This ammunition basket was a "find" for Laura Wilhelm of Olympia, WA.

Laura describes it this way:
The dimensions are approximately 22" wide x 22" deep and the top opening is only 4 1/4". The narrow canvas handles on each side are deep brown and 1" x 5" and are woven into the basket.

Laura describes this as a "very sturdy" basket. She noted that the wood in the bottom looks fresh and reddish. This makes her think this might be newer than the World War I era where these basket were used to carry ammunition shells.

after looking at the basket shape .. i may have well seen them .. but never looked into the 'bottom' of them .. the one in this photo holds several big bullets.

i'll be on the lookout for you!

Frannie, I have been looking for an ammunition basket for some time. It is a basket that was used to carry large ammunition in. Picture a bullet and then picture a bullet for a really big gun. The basket is tall, skinny(flat) and wide enough for maybe eight to ten shells. I know they exist - my friend has one, and I have seen two in home magazine articles - but they are always one of a kind. A while back someone at the Nashville flea market had some but not recently (I obviously missed those)and my friend in Nashville has an eye peeled for them. I would appreciate it if you would watch.....

ha! miz nancy jo .. Treasure Seekers is a list of gurlfrenz that i've developed over the years (have almost 300 of you on it!) .. rather than do 'e-bay' with STRANGERS and send my dear dollies and treasures 'out into the world' .. i love that friends i have made over the years .. will be adding THEIR stories to the things that have been important to me in my lifetime. most of my treasures span from a 30-some year collection. many of these things have lived with me in my homes in Colorado, Maryland and now Kentucky. They truly do have STORIES! soooo .. when i have some treasures that i am ready to 'let live somewhere else' now ... i post a picture, story, price to my TREASURE SEEKERS via e-mail. I come to YOUR computer .. rather than you having to search websites and such.

I also do fun games with prizes from time to time with my Treasure Seekers list of friends. AND .. when you are on Treasure Seekers .. you automatically get my Kentucky Ramblings .. just a little 'love letter' from time to time telling of an adventure i have had, a friend i have made, a 'story'.

so that's it gurlfren .. my Treasure Seekers. xoxo
