Posted - Oct 14 2008 : 09:13:02 AM I have just completed the merit badge for starting my own business. I am hoping that my Etsy and www.jeanpatch-bymk.com will start to become a success. Ebay is not a problem since everyone shopes there already. But, I don't want to put my handmade things there if I can sell them on a site like etsy that is just for handmade items. I am also having a hard time with how to get traffic to the site without paying a fortune.
I would appreciate any tips from successful sellers online for my new adventure. I am adding vintage tote bags and quilted items in the upcoming weeks.
If you know anyone who likes the things I sell please let them know. Hugs, Thanks for sharing, Marjean

Posted - Oct 14 2008 : 09:59:47 AM Hi Marsha --
I checked out your etsy store -- do you mind if I make a suggestion? I had a hard time seeing the details of your items because the photos are somewhat out of focus. Maybe you could take the photo at a greater distance and then use Photoshop to crop the photos to include only the item, none of the extraneous stuff around it. Or scan the item and use that image. If you don't have a scanner or Photoshop, maybe you could take the item outside and get better light on it. This is just my reaction to seeing your items. With so much stuff out there for us all to look at and consider buying, I think presentation of the items is very very important.
Good luck with your venture.
