Ok you smart Farmgirls,
I'm want to do my own website using one of those packages; homestead, etc.
Anyone have any experience with them? Is there a favorite that you use?
Appreciate any input for Joyful Empowerment and Herbal Momma's School of Domestic Arts.

Blessings,
Kristine ~ Mother of Many, MRET & Wellness Coach

Cool Kristine! I am excited for you! Call me if you ever need any help, but I think it is a pretty to use interface. The only time I ever ran into problems was at about 3am when I should have been in bed 6 hours before! LOL

I really like my blogspot a lot.

I've had homestead of about 15 years. And this is my last year with them, mainly cause of money (here's my homestead site- www.wolfprncez.homestead.com/map.html )

It's good, I just don't like the price. However, I am keeping my free homestead ones, and probably will never give them up. But, you can no longer get free ones. I just have free ones cause I had them for about 10 years before they started charging, they let us who already had our sites for so long keep them for free. Or we could upgrade to the paid for for 20 dollars for 3 years. Which I did with one of them, and it was worth it. However, NOW it's a 166 dollars a year. And that's just too much for me.

However, I learned their interface really fast, and one thing is they NEVER have changed it. In the whole time I've had homestead the interface (how to manage, and change the website) has stayed the same. Sure extra features come and go (like one time they used to have chat rooms, and message boards you could put on your website!) but, how to manage it and how to add the features, have stayed the same! Which makes editing a page very easy.

Seems that Blogger, changes it's interface every about 2 years. And then I have to learn the "new" interface! lol It's not hard to learn for the most part. BUT, it's just something else on my plate. Where with Homestead for the whole 15 or so years I have had them, they have never once changed how to work it! So that to me is a plus.

You also don't need to know how to work html with them.

The only hang up with homestead is..not all their features work with ALL internet browsers, especially firefox. Works great with net scape, and IE. But, not so great with firefox.

However, I haven't tried Google's new browser, and my husband says Google's browser is really GREAT. So people may start going to it. I would check out how Homestead works with the Google Browser before a final decision. Cause I think people are getting more and more away from IE and netscape, cause of safety-pc crashes and hackers, etc.

Any way, you don't have to know ANY html at all to use homestead either. Although you CAN add html, you don't have to!

I like my google website. It's only $10 for a year and you get your own domain name. They are very user friendly- very point and click. Infact, if you can navigate your blogspot blog, then you can do the google hosted pages. http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new

If you are looking for free, I like Geocities. www.geocities.com
