I was at the Muskegon, Michigan farmer's market on Saturday and I picked up a package of handmade greeting cards.
The paper had seeds in it, and it looked it the cover, with a beautiful photo of the appropriate plant for the seed embedded in the card, was printed on an inkjet printer, and it looked like the fold line for the card was perforated with an unthreaded sewing machine needle.
I went looking on the internet for a recipe to make this paper, and I found a couple - http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf71713276.tip.html is one - but I don't think it is the same as the paper I bought, which is maybe much stiffer.
Looking at the one I bought, it seems like it is regular card stock with toilet paper? paper towels? laid over the seeds and some kind of binding agent to keep everything together - possibly wallpaper paste?
I'm thinking that the paper needs to be pretty flat and stiff to go through the printer without jamming. And I'm wondering how to keep it so flat if it gets wet.
So, have any of you crafty gals already learned the secret of how to do this?

Making paper is very easy. There are several websites out there that show you how to do it. When your sheet is wet, you can sprinkle the seeds on top of the wet pulp. You could use shredded paper to make more paper or you can use toilet paper/paper towels. Paper molding is also pretty fun. My children and I made several different molds one year as Christmas gifts with cookie molds we borrowed from a friend. They turned out so cute! I helped set up a paper-making business in our high school for our students with special needs. The students make the paper cards from scratch (recycled paper) and decorate them (cutouts and what-not). Their business is self-sufficient now and they fund many of their field trips and community based instruction needs. This year they had a huge order for graduation announcements. We use a dip method by "dipping" the square screen form into the slurry of colored "paper". The suction/squeegee out the excess water and slap those sheets up on the windows to dry! When they fall off the windows, they're ready! -- brightmeadow, check your local Michaels or JoAnns for materials if you want a kit...but you can easily make your own with 1x1s and window screen. Brenda I couldn;t get that link to work. Do you have a picture of the card paper that you could email me. I teach art and do a papermaking unit every year. If I could see it I could give you a better idea of how it is made.

I'm not sure how to make this paper from scratch, but here is info on a company I'd bookmarked a while ago that has seeded papers and even shapes (like butterflies!)
