My sister, who is very talented, has taken a step forward and rented a spot at a craft show and is asking for some "cute and creative" ways to display her crafts...She has sweet birdhouses with mosaic rooftops made of broken china..Christmas stockings from multiple fabrics sewn together..the sweetest hat stands with fabric and ribbon..and picture frames with lace and buttons..just to name a few~~
Anyone have some ideas for display? I think it is in a gym and so she will only have a table and maybe she can put some sort of tall stand together. I suggested peg board or even lattice~~I thought about putting different height pans or something, with some cute fabric over it to display the hat stands on the table and to create interest~~
Has anyone who has done this type of show have any other suggestions? I also wonder if it will be more seasonal...with Halloween coming and also Christmas...

I like to use dry foliage and branches in my displays, hydrangaes, leaf garlands, etc. What about using some cool looking mossy branches to hang the bird houses on or even some of the other items. You can stick it in a pail with gravel or sand and cover with moss or fabric. You can hinge together small shutters and use s-hooks or wire to hang things on them. You could place a small section of picket against the front of the table but low enough that it doesn't interfere with access to the top of the table and hang your stockings on it. When I had my store I had really long sections that I leaned against the wall and we hung stockings on them at Christmas and it wa sooo darn cute!! The trick is to use unexpected things for your display to intrigue and draw people in. Hope this helps and good luck!

My hubby built me a plywood folding display (about 6 feet high, and attached removable shelves to it. I painted it in shabby chic white and I change the border on it by repainting it occasionally. I also use wooden ladders and rustic tables to display my free standing items. I use an old quilt for a table top if it does not interfere with what I put on it. Baskets look nice on it filled with items. If you are inside and have availability, a lamp softens your booth a lot. And a rug - one that is light and easy to move. |

I have one tip: if you want to use a print tablecloth, use it upsidedown for a vintage, faded look -- that mutes the colors into the background. |

Here are just a few ideas. When it comes to displays I have found it helpful to start from the back and work my way forward. Usually my back piece is lattice. (You can use s hooks on the lattice to hangs things, like the stockings or pictures)
Next I make a background by using a vertical banner. You could use a craft flag (you know the kind that have "Welcome" or just cute spring pictures on them they have them at Michaels and other craft stores) or you could make it out of material, just remember you want the banner color to set off the colors that will be in front of it.
Then I place the table in front of the wall, place the first table cloth down, then put boxes or crates (pots) to create different heights on the table (working from back to front or middle out) Then I place a table cloth over the crates and kind of bunch it up around each box/create.
Set everything up, then take a digital or Polaroid of it, to see what you could improve. I like my displays to go from the ceiling to the floor (or the top of the lattice to the floor).
Once you have it just the way you want it, take another picture of it, so you know exactly how to set it up once you are there.
P.S. Make sure everything has a unified label/tag. Use the same color paper, nice writing (same font), raffia or colored string to tie them
