Hi. I recently started selling at the local farmers market. My initial plan was to sell all natural products scented with essential oils or unscented. But everyone who comes up to my table picks up a bar of soap and sniffs it. So I guess I should break down and use fragrance oils in at least some of them. I do have a few with essential oils, but only the most affordable (lemongrass, orange, etc.) It's just not cost-effective to use the more expensive essential oils until I am selling enough to justify buying in bulk.
So what scents for soaps and/or flavors for lip balms do you all think would sell the best? I'd like to stick to the old fashioned, farmhouse type scents but not limit myself to apple pie. :)

Thank you for the great suggestions and the very nice compliment. I will take your advice on the test batches. I am such a tightwad that I always think I must buy supplies that are a sure thing, but I think I can part with a little bit to do some testing. And you are right, I can always use them for gifts if it doesn't work out.

As far as FO goes, Oatmeal Milk and Honey fragrance seems to be pretty popular and it smells good enough to eat! Vanilla and vanilla mixes are always great, and of course Lavender.

You can just punch in the fragrances you have and it will tell you what blends well with it.
Also, you don't necessarily have to buy fragrances in bulk. Until you find what fragrances people in your area are interested in buying, just try a small 'test batch' of several different ones. If it sells quick, use the $$ to invest in more of that fragrance and if it doesn't, then at least you didn't put too much into it (you can always use it for gifts!).
