I was wondering if any of you make soy wax candles. We started this little stay at home business about 18 months ago and I love it! But, we do have one problem. The melt temp for soy is pretty low, so I am it the process of mixing a certain percent of beeswax as it is a harder wax. I think this will allow me to ship candles during the summer months, which I don't do at the precent. Anyone, make candles? Any ideas?
It is important that we keep the candles natural. Thanks!

I can buy beeswax from our Food Co-op. It is really nice and not as expensive as ordering it, plus it helps a "local" farmer.
No, I don't have website - yet! My ds#1 is supposed to be working on it and we have paid the fees, etc. Just waiting for him to put it together. He is a programmer by day, so it is a little like the mechanic's car (that always needs fixin'). :-)

Hi, Cheryl! I don't make candles, but I have seen on many cosmetic and candle sites notifications in the months leading up to summer that shipping will be limited through the summer. Headings like, 'Stock up now, Summer's coming!' and the like. Doesn't help much with your problem now, but just a thought for next year. Do you have a website? I'd love to see your candles!
Also, our farmer's market carries now carries local beeswax from the supplier of their honey, at my request. I was tired of getting junky wax and paying though the nose for it, so I asked the owner of the market about it. Now, they have a few chubs of wax on hand all the time, and it's great stuff. Maybe check in your area? Good luck!

I have used both Millcreek and CandleandSupply. I have been real happy with Millcreek, with a couple of exceptions (length of time on shipping). CandleandSupply is pretty high on shipping, plus their wax is higher.
I have looked at Lone Star's website, but never ordered from them. I normally use GB Plain 415 wax.

I've used this company... very good customer service, fast shipping, excellent products. I tried another supplier to save on shipping, and was immensely disappointed. For me, Lone Star is the way to go :) http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/

I would like to add enough bees wax to increase the burn time and raise the melt temp. I think I can add up to about 10%. I've just started experimenting. I have some people who are wanting me to ship candles, but I am concerned about the condition they would arrive in.
The first time we tried to sell candles was at a Peach Festival. It was July and the temperature was 104 by noon. We had soy soup instead of candles. That was two years ago and we have found other markets - still there is this summer time shipping thing.
What are some of your favorite supply houses?

yep yep I do! I don't ship during the summer either and I do both bee and soy. I do bring them to farmers market and set some up, but not all. I keep the rest in a cooler so they don't melt. It gets pretty hot here in the Summer. what ideas are you looking for, questions answered?
