hi farmgirls! i am exploring the concept of starting my own small business after years of corporate life. my overall concept revolves around organic, recycled, repurposed, reimagined items. i cannot think of a better group of experts than farmgirls. so..here is my question...if you were not a farmgirl making items yourself..what would you like to be able to purchase that is either made from organic materials..or from recycled, repurposed or reimagined items?
thanks in advance. i hope to sell online and in local shops here in napa.

also, once i get my website up and all the business stuff taken care of...if you make/produce an item that you think would be a good fit for my assortment and would like to talk about wholesale opportunities, please email me at napafarmhouse1885@gmail.com.

remember..this is going to be a small business run out of my home but i think it could be cool...what do you think?

best,

hi christine..yes the business is based in napa although it is going to be an on-line store for now..although i will sell at craft fairs, farmer's markets and some of the items will be available at shops throughout the napa valley. i also will be selling items handcrafted by local artists and craftspeople and thought that a couple of times a year i would have a "gallery" type showing but with the items for sale and with an emphasis on the entire event being "green". what do you think?

Yes. I would purchase from you because everywhere you turn the media is always puching the go green, buy local, eat organic, issues, but when you don't know exactly where to go to get those things, you just kinda forget about how important they are. I'm assuming you are in or near tha Napa Valley in CA? If so, you could really have a "boutique" style store! IN a financially sound area, even here in rural VA, i know of people who turn their noses up at the idea of shopping second hand or farmers market. Boutique gives such a sophisticated feel.
Good luck

Hey we are doing the same thing! We started last year and decided to keep it local before hitting the net. We own and operate The Good Earth Farm. We grow organic fruits and veggies, make organic dip mixes and breads and we also produce repurpose, recycled and reused items. These items are hot sellers. I say we a lot but in reality I come up with the concepts and hubby does a LOT of the work. I still deal with the corporate world.

1. We take soda, beer, and wine bottles cut them down and sand the edges for drinking glasses and vases. Everyone loves these
2. Tables and planters made from "first cut lumber" that is normally discarded
3. Purses made from old burlap and tapestries pieces
4. Twig Framed mirrors
5. Quilts made from t-shirts and jeans
6. Mosiac rocks for gardens
7. Mosaic tables made from cable spools and broken glass pieces

Just a few of the items we make. Hope this gets the creative juices flowing.
