No, I didn't get stiffed by a customer... I 've been an ebay seller since 1998 and have 100% positive feedback on my transactions. I mainly sold vintage needlework tools, some fabric,etc.
Now, out of the blue they suspended me. Some hacker evidently tried to list under my name ( I don't get why ) and while they are running around somewhere, I'm stuck with my stuff.
Just be careful if you have an idea of starting a business on an auction site. Too many wierdos out there, I guess. And no help from the auction site.

Hi Jana,
I had a similar experience to the one Kay had only I was a bidder. I have been trying to acquire a certain doll and some fraudster living in England contacted me pretending to be the seller. They said that the high bidder had backed out and they were offering to sell it to me if I would just send them a payment through Western Union. HA!
Fortunately for me, I knew the high bidder through the forum for that particular doll. I knew that she could afford it and had purchased two dozen of them in the past. I contacted her, E-bay, and the seller so they would all know what was going on. The other tip off was that my bid was $400.00 less than the winning bid! Why on earth would the seller settle for selling to a cheapskate like me rather than relisting?
E-bay acknowledged this is happening a lot and they think a large share of the money is going to fund terrorism. Yikes. They problem is, it is not taking any money out of Ebay's pockets.
I would be very persistent in trying to get this resolved, Jana. Ebay should not punish you because they cannot possibly prove you were involved.
Another thing I found out you can do is to make all of the bidders names on your auctions private so that no one but the seller can view them. The way this creep contacted me was to click on the bidding history and then simply click on my user name to send me a message. Far too easy.

jana dont fall for for the bull!!! i did and had to replace two of my cred, cards. i dont sell any more there was not a a place for what i sold. randi in jersey |

Jana, I had the same thing happen to me. I usually list my handmade things but when we won a TV that we didn't need I decided to list it. Some idiot in Nigeria tried to hack my account so they could intercept the winner of the TV and have the money sent to them. It took several emails to eBay and I finally got a phone call from their security department. I did get it straightened out. Just keep trying and remember to change your password every 30 days on both your eBay account and PayPal.

Oh, how frustrating! I do hope you can get it sorted out, and soon. In the meantime, I agree with JP...please do list your things here! I'd think vintage needlework items would go quickly in this group! :) |

Jana - I am sorry to hear about your bad experience on Ebay. I am not a seller, but a frequent buyer, and I always feel a certain risk when I do so, but have never been disappointed so far.
This matter is something you should ask Ebay more about though. Ebay must have this happen frequently, and I would hope they are following up on fraud such as this. It is a pretty savvy place to say the least. You may be able to straighten the situation out somehow, even if you have to change your store name.
Look into other opportunities to sell your things. You could post some of them in the section of this website where some of the gals are selling their soap and books and hand-woven shawls. Vintage needlework items may be of interest to some people who come here!
