Posted - Jul 15 2007 : 4:04:12 PM That is so inspirational that someone so young sees what she truly wants to do in life. A series of circumstances lead her to her work...it's almost like fate was pointing her in the right direction. She had the maturity to seize the opportunity, when most people at that age would overlook it or not had the guts to pursue it. Even a lot adults are just doing their job for a paycheck, not really enjoying what they're doing (myself included!). She's very focused with a good head on her shoulders!

Posted - Jul 10 2007 : 1:17:19 PM You're right, Kate--I just think of her with her whole life ahead of her, and already doing this! Amazing.
I'll figure it out--and I, too, love George Elliot--great choice and a great quote!

Posted - Jul 10 2007 : 1:12:13 PM Isn't that an amazing story! Besides the commitment from the Leher family, it shows how Farmgirls are still everywhere in the making. Thanks, Tracey, for sending us the link.

Posted - Jul 08 2007 : 7:01:04 PM Jayne and Jonni... Don't be depressed...or have regrets at not starting sooner...just start where you are! One of my favorite quotes is by English novelist, George Eliot... "It's never too late to be what you might have been"
Incidentally, "George Eliot" was a woman named Mary Ann Evans. A very prolific writer during the Victorian era. She chose a male pen name to make sure her writing was taken seriously.
It's never too late, ladies! I'm learning that myself... Kate~

Posted - Jul 07 2007 : 06:01:21 AM This was so inspiring - I agree, if only we had been so brave when we were that age, oh the time that wouldn't have been wasted!! That is pretty much what I would like to do when we have our farm (among a million other things of course!) Thanks so much for posting this - I have added the Sheep magazine to my favourites so I could the next article in the series! Reading this (and another book I have been reading) has really made me believe that serendipity is there, that things will just fall into place if you have the faith to let it happen. I am ready to jump now and see what will happen!! Best wishes, Jayne |

Posted - Jul 06 2007 : 10:16:29 PM Wow. I found this both inspiring and depressing! If only I had the forsight at 18 years of age to do what this girl has done. I had encouraging parents, but they wanted me to be a ballerina...(side note: we really DO use fresh wool in our pointe shoes. It was $5.00 a box)...but dancers lives don't last very long! This girl is my hero.
Oh to not have a normal job!!!!
