My daughters and I just had the best time today. We went on tours of five different farms in Clark County. It was called the Country Charm Farm Tour and it was put on by the 5 ladies that own the farms with their families. It was so cool! One of the gals used to consign her body scrubs and lotions in the store that my oldest daughter owned. So we were really excited to see what Kathy was doing.
She took an old storage shed and turned it into the cutest country store! She calls her place Ocean Child Lavender Farm. I'm attaching pictures of two of the places that we went to.
The other places had goats, chickens, honey bees, lavender, grapes, plants, wool, etc. One place has lots of sheep and had demonstrations on how to spin wool. The tours were free and then they had things from their farms for sale. They are trying to promote agriculture in our county and market their farms. Needless to say my mind is just spinning with lots of ideas for my place.
They are doing the tour one weekend each month in July, August, and September. They had a raffle card and when you visited one of the farms you got a stamp. After you have stamps from all five farms you turn it in for a drawing of a basket filled with goodies from all the places.
Just too cool!!! I'll never be able to sleep tonight!

Thanks for sharing your experience- I can visit vicariously now. Just for the record, Kay, I'm originally from WA, Spokane in particular... But it's been a long time since I've been there. My cousin makes Kayaks and teaches the tribes there to make them- no glue, nails, no fasteners but what the indians used to use. They are having a pow-wow in his honor this week! Proud cousin here...
Anyhow, love the photos, and love seeing the creative ingenuity of those women and their families.

I love it so inspirational. Thanks so nuch for sharing. Food for thought. I love fences covered in bloomer flowers and pots spilling over on every step. With little people in every hide away courner of the garden, it reminds me of my Mom's garden. I can't wait till I'm settled down so I can get started on making such a garden.

Jenny -- I want a fence just like across the front of my yard. And the way she had everything planted was so pretty. I love a cottage garden look and her's was great. Just bits of this and that stuck in every available space. That's why I took so many pics -- so I could remember when I get ready to plant.
I've been sitting on my porch ever since I got home just planning all this out in my head!! It's about to explode off my shoulders!

Wow...looks like you had quite a day Kay..I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight either!! how fun!! It was all so pretty!! Loved the fence at the Watson farm..thats the type I want around my front yard for sure!
