1. The "environmentalism" is a common sense, practical kind. It's not preached and 'guilted' all over the place.
2. The truth about GMO's, vaccines is proclaimed fearlessly.
3. The recipes are simple and don't contain foods I can't find or never hear of.
4. It's not 'uncool' to be me on the message boards.
5. Even if I don't agree with something that is printed, I don't feel like the idea was forced on me. This leaves me open to consider the idea and who knows, maybe someday I'll come to the same conclusion.
6. I learned how to sew french seams and make tasty homemade crackers,... that even my husband liked!
7. I've learned about new products such as Propex for discouraging weeds in our garden. Also, I'm going to check out the organic meat that can be delivered to my door.
8. I've expanded my reading with introductions to new ideas and authors - on the forum, books and magazines.
9. The one thing I don't like (hehe) is that it will take me rest of my life to put to use all the wonderful creativity that MJF has inspired!
10. Suggestions: Any ideas for gluten-free, non-dairy recipes? My family is sensitive to both. I'm always trying to find ways to combine garden veggies with GF grains such as wild rice, millet or quinoa. BTW loved the article about heritage grains and that quinoa and amaranth were included in the sidebar.
Keep up the good work -- loving what I read!

I purchased my first magazine at a local quilt shop....then I LOST it...I couldn't get away from the reading. I immediately started a search for more books re Mary Janes Farm. To date (a mere two months later) I have purchased books, subscribed to the magazine, joined the Sisterhood and applied to start a chapter. Oh my, how can I express my delight to find out the way I grew up is now a COOL way to live. I can't wait to teach others while I, myself am learning more. Thank you to Mary Jane and others who participate and share....Send me more stitchery ideas, I love it.

Judy,
As far as your gluten-free question, I wanted to let you know that farmgirl Lynn aka Weedy Ways is an excellent resource on gluten-free recipes, etc. She has a website at http://www.weedyways.com/

I so agree Judy!! I love the shining example that MaryJane sets without being preachy. I haven't tried a french seam yet but it is on my to-do list. Everytime I pick up one of her books or magazines I am re-inspired to be a better person.
